CBSE NET 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates willing to appear in the CBSE NET 2017 will have to go through the eligibility requirements before filling up the application form. It is critical to meet all eligibility requirements. Otherwise, the application form will be rejected resulting in loss of time, energy and money. The UGC (University Grants Commission) has laid down several eligibility requirements for candidates which are described in detail as below:

  1. Educational qualification 
  • Candidates appearing for the CBSE NET 2017 should have minimum Master’s Degree as qualification with minimum 55 percent overall score. The university should be central or state recognized. For candidates from ST/SC/OBC and PWD categories, minimum post-graduate score is 50 percent.
  • Candidates in their final year of Masters can also apply for this test. However, they will have to provide proof of qualifying their Master’s degree before they are awarded any post. Candidates who have received their Masters within two years from date of the NET Results will be eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have passed their Master’s examination on or before 19th September 1991 will get 5 percent relaxation their aggregate marks.
  • It is advisable to choose subjects in which candidates have completed their Master’s. For those candidates who cannot find their post-graduate subjects, they are advised to
  • Candidates are recommended to give the examination in the paper for which they are doing their Masters. Candidates whose subjects of PG (post graduate) do not appear in the list can apply for related subjects.
  1. Nationality/Citizenship: Candidates appearing in the CBSE NET-2017 must be Indian citizen with valid ID proof, Address proof and other documents.
  1. Age: This is another major criterion for application form. The general requirements related to age are:
  • The maximum (or upper) age limit for general candidates applying for JRF vacancies should be 28 years. Five years of age relaxation is given to women candidates and those from ST/ST/OBC and PWD categories.
  • For the Assistant Professor/Lecturer vacancies, upper age-limit is not applicable
  • Candidates will research experience will be given age relaxation (Provided they produce their attested experience certificate)

CBSE NET Exam 2017 Application Procedure

The application procedure for CBSE NET- 2017to be held in January will start from 17th October 2016. Candidates who are eligible for the examination will have to fill-up the online application form. The process is extremely easy and user-friendly. The step-by-step procedure for application is described below:

Step 1: Registration Process

The official website for registration process is Candidates are required to go through the link and register themselves for the CBSE NET 2017 Examination. After that, they can directly log in via their application IT as well as password. Every candidate must register to be able to apply online.

Step 2: Online application form fill-up

Once you have entered the website, you will find a link for the Application form. Once the application form is opened, fill up with correct details. Before hitting the ‘submit’ button, kindly check the application form properly. Any unfilled or incorrect data may result in rejection. Also, every information and documents shared with the application form will be scrutinized during the later stages to the recruitment process.

Once the application form is submitted successfully, candidate will receive Application ID. The ID should be saved for further logging.

Step3: Upload Signature & Photo

The third step is uploading the scanned copy of signature and photo. The scanned documents should be as per the specifications laid down by the CBSE NET authorities. After that, click on the ‘Upload’ button.

Step 4: Fees Payment

Once the scanned documents are uploaded, the next step is making payment. Candidates can opt for either online payment or e-Challan payment mode. In case of online payment, candidates will have to from Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card facility. Or, they can download the e-Challan which can be printed for submitted with the feed at the nearest bank.

CBSE NET 2017 Exam Selection Procedure

The selection procedure for 2017 CBSE NET examination has been explained in simple steps below:

Step I:In order to be eligible for candidature for the posts of Assistant Professor and JRF (Junior Research Fellow), candidates are required to secure minimum marks in the NET. The minimum qualifying score for Paper 1, 2 and 3 are given below:

Step II: Merit List will be released amongst candidates clearing the first step. This will be category wise and subject wise. The list will use aggregate marks from all papers in which the candidates have appeared.

Step III: Merit list will be prepared choosing candidates falling in the top 15 percent in each category and subject. These candidates will be declared qualified to be eligible for the post of Assistant Professor only.

Step IV: For JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) another merit list will be constructed. This will include the candidates qualified in NET.

Selection Criteria for JRF Posts

JRF posts will be awarded as per the available slots across Indian institutions and universities. JRF allocation will be done based on categories. In each CBSE-NET examination, there are at least 3200 fellowships provided by the Commission. According to government policies for reservation, OBC (non-Creamy, ST, SC and PWD (Persons with disabilities) will be awarded 27%, 7.5%, 15% % & 3% seats, respectively.

CBSE NET Exam 2017 Admit Card

CBSE has announced NET for the year 2017. The examination will be held on 22nd January 2017. Application form opened on 17th October and eligible candidate can register after verifying the eligibility criteria. The next critical step in the examination is getting the admit card. An admit card is the hall pass without which candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination centre. Steps to download Admit Card for 2017 CBSE NET: In order to successfully download admit card for 2017 CBSE NET Examination, candidates will have to follow the below-mentioned steps.

  • Visit the CBSE Official Website for NET,
  • A link will be referred on the home page. Candidates are required to click on the link which says ‘admission ticket or hall ticket’
  • Enter the login details which is the application or registration number & password
  • Download Admit Card for CBSE NET examination
  • Candidates should take a print out of the admit card. For emergency, it is advisable to keep two copies for admit card print out.
  • In case of any problem related to download of admit card, candidates are required to contact the CBSE authorities.
  • Candidates are required to check admit card for any error or wrong information. If found, they should contact the CBSE authorities immediately.

CBSE NET 2017 Exam Pattern 

Only candidates who obtain minimum qualifying marks in CBSE NET 2017 will be eligible for various posts such as Assistant Professor and JRF (Junior Research Fellow). Minimum qualifying marks are required in all papers separately which are Paper-1, Paper-2 and Paper-3. The exam is of National Level, meaning high number of applicants and tough competition. Understanding the exam pattern is very important as it help the candidates in understanding the focus areas. This will also help in strategizing for the examination. Paper 1:

  • Paper 1 will be general in nature. The objective is assessing the research and teaching aptitude of candidates
  • Paper will consist of questions that will test the comprehension, reasoning ability, general awareness and divergent thinking of candidates
  • There will be total 60 multiple-choice questions and each question will be of two marks. Candidates will have to attempt any 50 questions.

Paper 2

  • Paper 2 will have 50 objective-type questions. The questions will be based on subject(s) chosen by the applicants.
  • Each question will be of two marks

Paper 3

  • Paper 3 will have 75 objective-type questions. The questions will be based on subject(s) chosen by the applicants.
  • Each question will be of two marks

Some Important points to remember

  • The examination does not have any negative marking criteria. So it is better to attempt all questions
  • All questions in Paper 1 & Paper 2 will be compulsory. The questions will cover the entire syllabus which includes the electives
  • Candidates will be provided an OMR (Optical Mark Reader) sheet with test paper booklet. Candidates are required to mark their responses in the OMR sheet only.

CBSE NET Exam Cut Off 2017
