IBPS Clerk Preliminary Exam Pattern 2018-19

The IBPS Clerk Exam 2018-19 has been segregated into two tier system where a preliminary level exam is conducted followed by the main examination. A candidate has to first appear in the preliminary level and after crossing the first stage, the candidate will have to sit for the main examination. The basic intent of hosting this pattern is to eliminate the non-serious candidates.

IBPS Clerk Preliminary Examination Syllabus 2018-19

The Preliminary Examination is the first step towards the IBPS Clerk Exam. The exam is extremely simple and tests the potential of a candidate at a very basic level. The duration of the exam is 60 minutes / 1 hour and includes questions on English Language, Reasoning and Numerical ability. An expanded note on this exam is given below:

A candidate is required to answer maximum number of questions correctly within a time frame of 60 minutes. This will be an online examination, hence, the window will automatically close after 60 minutes.

IBPS Clerk Main Examination Pattern 2018-19

The candidates who have cleared the preliminary level will sit for the main examination. This exam is comparatively tougher and more encompassing. Students will require to show their brilliance here. The pattern of this examination is given below:

So, as one can see, the exam includes more chapters and more questions. Hence, the examination has a duration of 120 minutes/ 2 hours. Candidates who have successfully cleared the exam will be called upon for the interview round.

Negative Marking for wrong answers

Preliminary and Main examination, both, will have negative markings. If a candidate has answered a question incorrectly, then 0.25 will be deducted from this overall score. Nevertheless, there is no negative marking or deduction where a question has been left unattended.

IBPS Clerk Main Exam Syllabus 2018-19

The IBPS Clerk Examination 2016 has setup a two-tier system for scanning the best candidates from the country. The first examination is named as the Preliminary examination with a maximum score of 100 and the second examination is named as the Main Examination with a maximum score of 200. Candidates who have successfully cleared the Preliminary examination are eligible for Main examination. Negative marking applies to both examinations and will cost the candidate 0.25 for every wrong answer. Candidates who have cleared both the examinations will go to the next round, where the interview will be conducted.

First Section – Test of Reasoning

First section will be Logical Reasoning means the process of forming judgements, conclusions from premises or facts. The question in this section may be based on Verbal and Non-Verbal.
Verbal means classification, analogy, decision making, word formation, series, decoding & coding, blood relation, symbol & notation, statement & conclusion, sitting arrangement and problem solving.
Non-Verbal means series completion, finding any missing figure and classification.

Second Section – English Language

Second section of ‘IBPS exams 2015-2016 Syllabus for clerks CWE’ is English language. It is one of the most important languages because it is wider and useful in all over the world, so the managing committee wants to select only those candidates who are capable of understand English. The questions in this section may be asked from the topic is vocabulary means homonyms, synonyms, antonyms, sentence completion, word formation and the topic comprehension means deriving conclusion, theme detection, passage completion and the topic Rearrangement of passage, spelling, sentence and the topic grammar means set of rules active passive voice, indirect direct speech and the topic General usage means phrases and idioms.

Third Section – Numerical Ability, Quantitative Aptitude

Third section of ‘IBPS Exams Syllabus for clerks CWE’ is Quantitative Aptitude in this question will have five multiple-choice answers. The question in this selection may be based on two topics like as Arithmetic and Data Interpretation. Data Interpretation means bar graphs, pie charts, line graphs and tabulation. Arithmetic means roots, average, ratio, time & work, time & distance, percentage, profit & loss, mixture, stocks & shares, partnership, clocks, volume & surface area, height & distances, logarithms, permutation & combination, simple & compound interest, in equations & equations and probability.

Fourth Section – General Awareness

Fourth section for IBPS common test is General Awareness. These questions are not based on any specific study but related to current affairs. Definition of the current affairs is recent activity of India, and its neighbor countries like as sports, constitution, politics, history, banking, culture, geography, economy, techniques and Finance.

Fifth Section – Computer Knowledge, Computer Awareness

Last section of “IBPS exams 2018-19 Syllabus for clerks CWE” will be computer awareness means knowledge and ability to use computers. Questions are based on two topics like as hardware and software. The topics  will be covered in this section are MS Office, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, Windows, internet and how to operate well for official use. You can say that just basic knowledge of computers. The previous questions papers contains the following topics operating systems, computer networks, internet, E-commerce, the basic computer architecture, terminology, EFT systems, acronyms and MS Officer 2003, 2007 power point.
