For candidates who are going to enrolled for SSC JE exam 2018, knowing the syllabus is vital. As you all know the exam is going to held on 5,6,7th January 2018. A good knowledge about the syllabus will allow the candidates to prepare well and hence, clear the written examinations with ease. The written exam for SSC JE is divided into two sections- objective-type and conventional type. The candidate is first required to clear the objective type examination and candidate who have passed in the first paper are eligible to sit for the second paper. SSC JE Syllabus (Objective-type Exam)
The syllabus for SSC Junior Engineer Exam 2018 is divided into 3 sections as mentioned above. A candidate needs to make preparation for these subjects separately. Here is the detailed structure of the syllabus.
1) Intelligence and Reasoning- This will be the first section that a candidate will be answering in the objective-type question paper. A total of 50 questions will be asked from this section and each question will carry one mark each. A candidate will try to solve as much questions as possible and then move ahead to the next section. Questions from the following chapters are generally asked:

2) General Awareness– This section basically has no syllabus! There are numerous areas from which questions pop up in this section. The questions can range from international level to domestic level. A candidate has to ensure that he is able to answer some questions correctly, so that he can clear the sectional cut offs. Here are some of the most common areas:

3) Professional Background: This section should be the friendliest section for the candidates who are appearing for the Objective-type paper or Paper I. This section mainly relates to what they have been studying for so long and carries a good 100 marks. Here the syllabus is different for each candidate as they can choose from Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. A synopsis of the same is given below:
a) Mechanical Engineering: Thermodynamics, IC Engine Performance, Air Compressors and its cycles, Principle of Refrigeration Plant, Nozzles and Steam Turbines, Boilers, etc.
b) Civil Engineering: Surveying, estimation of costing and valuation, Irrigation Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Theory of Structures, Steel design, Concrete technology, etc.
c) Electrical Engineering: Circuit Law, Magnetic circuit, electrical machines, transmission and distribution, utilization and electrical energy, etc.
The above mentioned is the syllabus for objective-type paper only. The exam will be based on MCQ type and a candidate is required to choose an answer from the given option, the exam also carries a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer. Candidates who would pass the objective-type level will move on to give the conventional-type paper.
