The Eligibility Criteria for SSC Junior Engineer Exam 2018 is based on 3 areas-  Nationality of the candidate, Age of the candidate and Educational Qualification of the candidate. Let us take a look at these requirements in detail.

1)     Nationality of the Candidate

A candidate needs to be one of the following in order to be eligible for the SSC JE Exam 2018-

  • An Indian Citizen, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A Subject of Nepal, or
  • A refugee from Tibet, whose ancestors had settled down in India prior to 1.1.1962., or
  • A person being of Indian Origin in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, any country of East Africa and Burma who has settled down in India permanently.

2)     Age of the Candidate

The age of a candidate is a crucial factor. Since there are numerous vacancies for various posts, the following chart will offer an exhaustive analysis of the age requirement for SSC JE Exam 2017

  1. The above mentioned age limit is applicable only to the General category. Candidates who belong from SC, ST or OBC enjoys age relaxation upto 5 years, 5 years and 3 years, respectively.
  2. The matriculation/secondary examination certificate will be accepted by the commission for determining the age.

3)     Educational Qualification

Candidates who wish to appear for the SSC JE Exam 2018 should held either a bachelor’s degree or a diploma degree from a recognized University. The term ‘recognized’ relates to any organization or institution which has been approved by the Government. How to decide my eligibility?

The process of determining the eligibility is simple. You are required to move from point 1 to point 3. First, you are required to check whether your nationality is India or of Indian origin.

In the second place, you need to check whether you fall in the right age group or not and thirdly, you would be required to check whether your educational qualification allows you to sit for the exam or not.
