SSC MTS Exam Pattern 2017 – Changed Exam Pattern

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has changed the exam pattern of MTS exam 2017.

As per the new notification by SSC MTS 2017 re-examination will be held from 16th September to 26th October 2017.

First this exam was conducted on 30th April, 14th May, 28th May, 4th June and 6th June 2017. But because of some malpractices, the exam was cancelled. First the exam was offline.

Now the exam will be held by online mode.

SSC MTS Exam Pattern 2017

The MTS Exam 2017 is based on an approach to test the basic knowledge of a candidate. For this purpose, the exam has been divided under two sections:

  • Paper I, and
  • Paper II

Duration of MTS Tier 1 Exam Pattern

There is total time allotted to general candidates is 90 Minutes and for visually handicapped/cerebral palsy candidates is 120 minutes.

Old MTS Exam Paper- I Exam Pattern

This is an objective type question paper where a candidate would be required to choose the correct answer from the given options. The paper will consist of 4 sections, namely, General Intelligence, Numerical Aptitude, English and General Awareness. The total of questions in the paper would be 150 and a candidate will have 120 minutes to answer them. Needless to say, like all other competitive exams this exam will also have a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer. To sum up, the exam pattern will be as:

Note: In case a candidate is declared as visually handicapped, he/ she will be offered an extra 40 minutes to complete the same paper. Irrespective of who the candidate is, the exam will begin at 10:00 am.

MTS Exam Paper- II

After complete the Paper- I, candidates are required to sit for Paper-II on the same day. The exam will commence from 2:00 pm and will have a duration of 30 minutes. Within this time period, a candidate would be asked to either write a short essay or a letter. For candidates who are visually handicapped, they would be allotted an extra time period of 15 minutes.

Once a candidate has cleared both the level, he/ she is found fit for the post.

Things to remember for SSC MTS Exam Pattern 2017

  • Both Paper I and Paper II are required to be given on the same day, in the present case- 10.1.2016
  • Paper- I will have objective type questions, all questions will be available in English/ Hindi except for the English section.
  • A proof of being a handicap needs to be given at the time of online application.
  • Candidate’s age should be in between 18 to 25 years, unless he/ she belongs to SC/ ST/ OBC.
