SSC MTS Syllabus 2017 – Latest UpToDate

SSC will conduct MTS exam on 16 April, 30 April and 7th May 2017. Candidate would be eager to know the syllabus for the exam as it would help them to make necessary preparations.

However, before learning about the syllabus of SSC MTS exam, it is necessary to know about the structure of the exam. There are two papers which candidates need to answer, namely, Paper I and Paper II. Paper I will consist of 4 sections and Paper II will consist of just one section which needs to be answered in English or Hindi. The scope of Paper I is wider than Paper II and hence, we would be discussing the syllabus for Paper I below.

Section I- General Intelligence

This section involves testing a candidate’s ability to use logic. There will be 25 questions from this section and each will carry a mark. Some of the key areas which a candidate needs to focus upon are decision making, relationship, number series, etc. The scope of its syllabus is as follows:

Section II- Numerical Aptitude

Numerical Aptitude is all about arithmetic. A majority of questions are asked from arithmetic section, but it also includes questions relating to mensuration and geometry. A total of 25 questions is asked from this section and each question is worth one mark. The complete scope of this section includes:

Section III- English Language

The English language section is one of the most important sections in the exam as a total of 50 questions are asked from this section. Each question carries a mark and hence, a total of 50 marks can be scored in this section within minutes. The following is the syllabus of this section-

Section IV- General Awareness

The most talked about section in this exam is the general awareness section. A candidate gets 50 questions from this section and there is exactly one mark for every question. The syllabus for this section is almost everything under the sun. However, to categorize, the following areas as important:

Indian History Indian Geography Culture Politics
Indian Economy Banks Sports- Awards Book -Author
Contribution-Person Research Summits Recent Events

Apart from the above mentioned areas, the authority reserves the permission to ask questions from any other area as well. Generally, it is the case of hit or gone in general awareness. If a candidate knows the answer, then he should answer it, else he should move on to the next question as a wrong answer will cost him/ her 0.25 marks.

The syllabus of Paper II includes a short essay or a letter either in English or Hindi. A candidate has 30 minutes of time to do so and incase of VH (Visually Handicapped) an extra time of 15 minutes is allotted.
