The UPSC Indian Forest Service Exam 2017 is around the corner and the candidates must take a look into the respective eligibility criteria as furnished by the authority. Any candidate who proposes to apply for the post is required to fulfil 5 eligibility criteria beforehand. Failing to do so can result in termination of the candidate. Following are the eligibility criteria for UPSC IFS Exam 2017: –
The application procedure has closed on 17 March 2017. The next event is preliminary exam which is on 18th June 2017.
UPSC IFS Eligibility – Nationality
The first eligibility criteria for UPSC IFS exam relate to the nationality of a candidate. Candidates who are the resident of some other country cannot apply for the post. To elaborate, a candidate must fulfil atleast one of the given conditions:
- Indian Citizen
- Subject of Bhutan
- Subject of Nepal
- A person of Indian Origin who has come from East Africa or sub-continent such as Burma, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, etc., and intends to settle down in India permanently.
- A descendant of a Tibetan Refugee whose ancestors had come to India before 1.1.1962
If a candidate satisfies any one of the above mentioned conditions, then he has qualified for the first criteria.
UPSC Eligibility Criteria- Age Limit
The age of a candidate should be in between 21 years to 32 years for UPSC IFSC Exam 2017. Any candidate who does not falls into the given age bracket is not eligible for application. However, there are certain exceptions to this age limit. Mentioned below is the synopsis of the same.

UPSC IFS Eligibility Criteria – Education Qualification
As per the notification issued by the UPSC Department, a candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in the respective field. Any candidate whose qualification is less than the aforesaid degree cannot be considered. Bachelor’s degree should be held in any one of the given field.

It should be noted that the Bachelor’s degree should come from a Government’s Institute or any other institute which has been recognized by the Government.
UPSC IFS Eligibility Criteria – Number of Attempts
There is a restriction in number of attempts for UPSC IFS Exam 2017. General candidates and candidates belonging to OBC are limited number of attempts, whereas candidates belonging to Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe can try as many times as they wish. UPSC IFS Eligibility Criteria 2017 – Physical Standards
The eligibility criteria of UPSC IFS Exam also include requirement in terms of physical attributes of a candidate. The criteria suggests that a candidate should be physically fit to be in the post of a forest officer. Qualifying in each of the above mentioned criteria allows a candidate to be eligible for making an application in UPSC IFS Exam 2017.
