Selection Procedure:

  1. Online Test: This consists of an Objective Test (120 marks, 2 hours, 4 sections: English Language, Banking Knowledge, General Awareness/Economy, Computer Aptitude) and a Descriptive Test (50 marks, 30 minutes, English Language – Letter Writing & Essay). There will be no penalty for wrong answers in Objective Tests. Minimum aggregate qualifying marks will be decided by the Bank.
  2. Screening: Online applications and documents of candidates who qualify the online examination will be reviewed by a Screening Committee. The committee will verify the candidate’s experience and job profile against that of a Scale-I Generalist Officer of State Bank of India. Applications will be rejected if the job profile does not substantially match.
  3. Interview: Candidates will be called for an interview (50 marks) based on their aggregate marks in the Online Test and fulfillment of experience criteria. Candidates must score minimum qualifying marks in the interview.
  4. Final Selection: Final merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the Online Test and Interview, with a weightage of 75% for the Online Test and 25% for the Interview. Selection will be made from top-ranked candidates in the merit list (Circle-wise and Category-wise).
  5. Local Language Proficiency Test: This test will be conducted for provisionally selected candidates (based on performance in online test, screening, and interview) before joining the Bank. Candidates who fail to qualify this test will not be offered appointment. Candidates who have studied the specified local language as a subject in 10th or 12th standard are exempt from this test.

  • Candidates can apply online only from 29.01.2026 to 18.02.2026. No other mode of application will be accepted.
  • Visit Bank’s website https://sbi.bank.in/web/careers/current-openings and open the Online Application Form.
  • Fill the application carefully. Save data if not completing in one go (provisional registration number and password will be generated).
  • After ensuring correctness, pay the requisite application fee through online mode (debit card/credit card/Internet Banking).
  • On successful completion, e-receipt and application form will be generated, which may be printed for record.
  • DO NOT send the print-out of application to the Bank.

  • Photograph: Recent passport style colour picture, light-coloured/white background. Dimensions 200 x 230 pixels, file size 20kb – 50kb. Live photograph capture also required.
  • Signature: On white paper with Black Ink pen. Dimensions 140 x 60 pixels, file size 10kb – 20kb. (NOT IN CAPITAL LETTERS).
  • Left Thumb Impression: On white paper with black or blue ink. Dimensions 240 x 240 pixels (3 cm * 3 cm), file size 20 KB – 50 KB.
  • Handwritten Declaration: In English, clearly on white paper with black ink. Dimensions 800 x 400 pixels (10 cm * 5 cm), file size 50 KB – 100 KB. Text: “I, __________ (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.” (NOT IN CAPITAL LETTERS).

Posting Location:

  • Selected candidates shall be posted in the applied Circle only.
  • Selected candidates will not be entitled for Inter-Circle transfer/Corporate Centre Posting/Corporate Centre Establishment Posting/Foreign Posting up to his/her promotion to SMGS-IV Grade OR 12 years of service, whichever is later.

Pre-Examination Training (PET):

  • Bank will arrange pre-examination training (PET) in online mode for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates.
  • Eligible candidates who opt for PET should fill the relevant column in the online application.
  • Login for training from Bank’s website by entering registration number and date of birth.
  • Intimation regarding schedule will be shared through registered email and SMS.

Eligibility related to CIBIL/Loans:

  • Candidates who have defaulted in repayment under any lending arrangement with Banks or NBFCs including credit card dues and have not regularised/repaid their outstanding till the date of issuance of letter of offer of appointment by the Bank, shall not be eligible.
  • Candidates who have regularised/repaid such outstanding on or before the date of issuance of offer of appointment, but whose CIBIL status has not been updated, shall, on or before the date of joining, have to either get the CIBIL status updated or produce NOCs from lender.

No Objection Certificate (NOC) for Government/PSU Employees:

  • Candidates serving in Government/Quasi Government, Public Sector Undertakings including Nationalised Banks/RRBs are required to submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their employer at the time of interview, failing which such candidates will not be allowed for interview.
  • In case of selection, candidates will be required to produce proper discharge certificate from the employer at the time of taking up the appointment.

Biometric Verification:

  • Bank may capture photo and thumb impression/IRIS in digital format for biometric verification at various stages (online exam/interview/joining).
  • Candidates must ensure correct thumb impression/IRIS is captured, as inconsistency will lead to rejection.
  • Do not apply external matter like mehandi, ink, chemical etc. on hands.

Interview Travel Reimbursement:

  • Outstation candidates called for interview will be reimbursed Railway AC-III fare for the shortest route in India or actual expenses incurred (whichever is lower) from place of residence/posting to Interview venue.
  • Local transportation expenses will not be reimbursed.
  • A candidate found ineligible for the post will not be reimbursed any fare.
