- Qualification: Standard 12 Pass (10+2); Valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License (HGV/HPV/PSV) issued by Regional Transport Office; PSV Badge; Minimum 4 years of experience driving heavy vehicles including diesel vehicles after obtaining heavy license (with transport/company certificate); Basic Computer Knowledge certificate as per Government resolution
- Age Limit: 25 to 35 years (General Male); 25 to 40 years (General Female); 25 to 40 years (Reserved Male); 25 to 45 years (Reserved Female); Up to 45 years (Ex-Servicemen). Maximum age limit with all relaxations shall not exceed 45 years.
- Pay Scale: Fixed Pay Rs. 26,000/- per month for 5 years (Contract basis). After satisfactory completion of 5 years, eligible for regular appointment at the prevailing basic pay scale for Driver category.
Selection Procedure

- OMR Written Examination (100 Marks, 40% Weightage): All applicants will be called for a 100-mark OMR-based competitive written test of 1 hour duration. Subjects include: General Knowledge (30 marks), Road Safety & Auto Mechanics (20 marks), Gujarati Language & Grammar (20 marks), English Language & Grammar (10 marks), Arithmetic (20 marks). Candidates scoring 0 (zero) or below will not be eligible for the Driving Test. Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong/blank/multiple-option answer applies (except if option E is marked).
- Driving Test (50 Marks, 60% Weightage): Top merit candidates from the OMR test will be called for the Driving Test in a 1:2 ratio (considering reserved/unreserved vacancies). Candidates must score a minimum of 35 marks out of 50 to pass. Candidates scoring below 35 marks will be declared failed.
- Final Merit List: Final selection will be based on combined weightage: OMR Written Test (40%) + Driving Test (60%) = Total 100% weightage. Merit list will be prepared category-wise (reserved/unreserved) based on this combined score.
- Document Verification: Selected candidates must produce original certificates for educational qualification, age, caste, driving license, experience, computer knowledge, etc.

- Category-wise Vacancy Distribution: Unreserved (General Male: 1385, Female: 681), EWS (Male: 329, Female: 161), SEBC (Male: 711, Female: 350), SC (Male: 184, Female: 90), ST (Male: 475, Female: 233), Ex-Servicemen: 459 (adjusted against respective categories).
- Height Requirement: Male candidates: Minimum 162 cm (160 cm for ST candidates); Female candidates: Minimum 158 cm. Height will be measured only by GSRTC’s authorized height machine certified by the Weights & Measures Department.
- License Requirements (Male): Must hold a valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License (HGV/HPV/PSV) issued by RTO; PSV Badge mandatory at the time of online application; Heavy license must be at least 4 years old; Minimum 4 years of experience driving heavy vehicles (including diesel) after obtaining heavy license, supported by transport/company certificate.
- License Requirements (Female): Must hold a valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License (HGV/HPV/PSV) and PSV Badge at the time of application. Female candidates with heavy vehicle driving experience will be given preference. Those without heavy vehicle experience may be given 2 months training at GSRTC’s Automatic Driving Test Centre before appointment.
- Experience: Experience will be counted only from the date of HGV/HPV/PSV license issuance. Break periods will not be counted. Experience certificate from transport company/employer with owner’s signature and stamp is mandatory. 108 Ambulance experience is not valid as it is not a heavy vehicle.
- Computer Knowledge: Basic computer knowledge certificate as per Government Resolution No. CRR-10-2007-120320-G-5 dated 13/08/2008 is mandatory.
- Date of Birth Proof: SSC Board certificate or School Leaving Certificate is accepted. Birth certificate (extract) is NOT accepted. Date of birth in SSC/School Leaving Certificate and Driving License must match.
- Widow Candidates: 5% bonus marks on OMR written test marks and 5% bonus on Driving Test qualifying marks will be added for widow candidates, provided they have not remarried at the time of appointment.
- Sports Persons: Candidates who have represented at National/International, Inter-University, or All India School Federation level in recognized sports will receive 5% bonus marks on OMR written test marks.
- Ex-Servicemen: Must have served minimum 6 months in Navy/Air Force/Army and hold valid discharge book and identity card. Must obtain civilian heavy vehicle license from Gujarat RTO. Age relaxation: service period + 3 years, subject to maximum age of 45 years.
- NOC Requirement: Candidates currently employed in Gujarat Government/Semi-Government/Corporation must inform their department within 7 days of applying and submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of Driving Test.
- Waiting List: A category-wise waiting list of 20% of vacancies will be prepared, valid for 2 years from the date of publication or until the result of the next recruitment for this category, whichever is earlier.
