Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Shortlisting based on ITI Marks: Candidates will be shortlisted for training on the basis of percentage of marks obtained in their ITI course in the relevant trade.
- Tie-Breaking (1st level): In case of a tie in ITI marks percentage, candidates with higher percentage in 10th standard (or 8th standard only for Welder, Carpenter/Wood Work Technician, Mason/Civil Mistry, Plumber) will be ranked higher on the merit list.
- Tie-Breaking (2nd level): In case of a further tie in 10th/8th class marks, the candidate born earlier (older candidate) shall be given preference.
- Document Verification: All shortlisted candidates are required to appear for Document Verification. Failure to appear will result in cancellation of candidature.
- Medical Examination: Engagement of Apprentice is subject to qualifying the standard medical examination prescribed by the Competent Authority.

- Training Duration: One year at IGCAR, Kalpakkam, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu – 603 102.
- Total Vacancies: 200 [SC-38, ST-2, OBC(NCL)-54, EWS-20, UR-86]. 8 vacancies identified for PwBD candidates (disability 40% or more).
- Stipend: Rs. 11,040/month for 2-year ITI course holders; Rs. 10,560/month for 1-year ITI course holders (as per Apprenticeship Amendment Rules, 2025, GSR 610(E) dated 03-09-2025).
- Eligibility: Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing Apprenticeship Training under Apprenticeship Act 1961 in any Government/PSU/Private organization are NOT eligible.
- No Employment Guarantee: There is no provision for employment of Apprentices on completion of training. Candidates cannot claim employment after training.
- Registration Mandatory: Candidates must register on https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and complete Aadhaar (e-KYC) verification before applying. Applications without a valid Registration Number (AXXXXXXXXXX) will not be accepted.
- One Trade Only: Candidates should submit an online application for one trade only.
- Police Verification: Selected candidates must submit a Police Verification Certificate from the local police station at the time of Document Verification.
- Hostel Accommodation: Selected candidates will be provided hostel accommodation on a chargeable basis, subject to availability.
- No TA/DA: No travel allowance or daily allowance will be paid for attending document verification and medical examination.
- Trade Test: Every apprentice who completes the training period must undergo a Trade Test. On passing, a National Apprenticeship Certificate will be issued by the Controller of Examination (DGT) through the Apprenticeship portal.
