Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Application Shortlisting: Applications will be shortlisted based on JEE Mains 2026 Common Rank List (CRL). Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) reserves the right to fix cut-off marks without assigning any reason. Shortlisting cut-off percentage will be published tentatively in the 4th week of November 2026.
- Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a 5-day SSB interview tentatively scheduled from February/March 2027 at one of the Selection Centres: Prayagraj (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), or Jalandhar (Punjab). The SSB consists of two stages:
- Stage I: Psychological tests and screening (candidates failing Stage I are returned on the same day)
- Stage II: Group Testing Officer tasks and Personal Interview (for Stage I qualifiers)
- Medical Examination: Candidates recommended by SSB will undergo medical examination at the nearest Military Hospital by a board of Male/Female doctors.
- Merit List: Merit list will be prepared based solely on marks obtained in the SSB interview. Higher educational qualifications, NCC background, or previous performances have no role in merit finalization.
- Joining Letter: Candidates recommended by SSB and declared medically fit will be issued Joining Letters for training in order of merit, subject to availability of vacancies and fulfillment of all eligibility criteria.

- Type of Commission: Permanent Commission in the rank of Lieutenant upon successful completion of 4-year training.
- Training Duration: 4 years (3 years at Cadets Training Wing + 1 year at IMA, Dehradun).
- Phase I (3 years): Integrated Basic Military Training & Engineering Training at CTW, CME Pune / MCTE Mhow / MCEME Secunderabad.
- Phase II (1 year): Integrated Basic Military Training & Engineering Training at IMA, Dehradun.
- Engineering Degree: Candidates will be awarded an Engineering Degree after successful completion of 4 years of training. Maximum two relegations permitted on academic grounds (JNU Ordinance).

- CTW CME, Pune – Civil & Mechanical Engineering (Corps of Engineers)
- CTW MCTE, Mhow – Telecom & IT Engineering / Dual Degree (Corps of Signals)

- Cost of Training: ₹13,940/- per week (as on 2021); borne by the Government but recoverable from candidates who withdraw voluntarily.
- Nationality: Indian citizens, Nepalese subjects, or persons of Indian origin from specified countries with intention to settle permanently in India (with eligibility certificate where required).
- Marital Status: Only unmarried male candidates are eligible. Candidates must undertake not to marry until completion of full training.
- Physical Standards (Minimum on arrival for training):

- Army Group Insurance: Cadets not in receipt of stipend: ₹30 lakh insurance cover on one-time premium of ₹14,000/-. Cadets in receipt of stipend: ₹1.25 Crore insurance cover with monthly subscription of ₹12,500/-.
- Promotion Criteria: Lieutenant (on commission) → Captain (2 years) → Major (6 years) → Lt Colonel (13 years) → Colonel TS (26 years) → Colonel/Brigadier/Major General/Lt General/General (on selection basis).
- Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500/- per month fixed for ranks Lieutenant to Brigadier.
- Travel Allowance: AC III Tier railway fare or bus fare (including reservation charges) for first-time SSB appearance only.
