Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Computer Based Test (CBT): Single stage CBT of 90 minutes duration for 100 questions (120 minutes for PwBD candidates eligible for scribe). Questions are objective multiple-choice type with four options. Subjects include: Professional Ability (70 marks), General Awareness (10 marks), General Arithmetic/Intelligence/Reasoning (10 marks), General Science (10 marks). Negative marking of 1/3rd mark for every wrong answer applies.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: UR/EWS – 40%, OBC(NCL) & SC – 30%, ST – 25% (applicable to ExSM and PwBD as per community). Relaxation of up to 2 marks for PwBD candidates in case of shortage.
- Shortlisting for Document Verification (DV): Candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be shortlisted based on CBT merit (1:1 ratio). Normalisation of marks will be done for CBTs held in multiple shifts. Tie-breaking by age (older preferred), then alphabetical order of given name.
- Document Verification (DV): Original certificates and two sets of self-attested photocopies to be submitted. Candidates must upload scanned copies of Photo & Signature before DV date.
- Medical Examination: Candidates must pass the requisite medical fitness test conducted by Railway Administration as per prescribed medical standards (B1, C1, or C2 depending on post).
- Empanelment: Based on merit in CBT, successful DV, and passing medical examination. Post and Railway/Unit allotted as per candidate’s options, merit, reservation, and vacancy position.
