Selection Procedure:
- Stage-I: Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination – Objective Type Papers (500 Marks total: Paper-I General Studies & Engineering Aptitude – 200 Marks, 2 hrs; Paper-II Engineering Discipline Specific – 300 Marks, 3 hrs). Negative marking of 1/3rd for wrong answers. Candidates qualifying Stage-I are eligible for Stage-II.
- Stage-II: Engineering Services (Main) Examination – Conventional Type Papers (600 Marks total: Paper-I – 300 Marks, 3 hrs; Paper-II – 300 Marks, 3 hrs). Papers must be answered in English only. Candidates qualifying Stage-II are summoned for Stage-III.
- Stage-III: Personality Test/Interview – 200 Marks. Assesses leadership, initiative, intellectual curiosity, tact, social qualities, mental and physical energy, practical application, and integrity of character.
- Final Merit: Based on aggregate marks of Stage-I + Stage-II + Stage-III (Personality Test/Interview). Candidates allotted to services based on rank and preferences expressed.
- Tie-Breaking: Resolved by marks in Engineering discipline papers, then age (senior ranked higher), then Commission’s discretion.
