Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Preliminary Examination (Objective Type): Consists of two papers of objective type multiple choice questions, each of two hours duration. Paper I: General Studies-I (200 marks). Paper II: General Studies-II/CSAT (qualifying, minimum 33% required). Negative marking: 1/4th mark deducted for wrong answers. This is a screening test only; marks not counted for final merit.
- Main Examination (Written): Candidates admitted to Main Examination will be 11 to 12 times the number of vacancies notified for each category. Consists of six papers of conventional essay type with prescribed word limit. Papers include General Studies and optional subjects. Duration: 3 hours per paper (except Language paper: 3 hours). Candidates may write answers in English or Assamese.
- Interview/Personality Test: Candidates called in ratio of 1:3 against vacancies. Assessed by a board for personal suitability, mental caliber, intellectual qualities, social traits, and interest in current affairs. Marks scored in Interview/Personality Test are added to Written Examination marks for final ranking. No qualifying marks for Interview/Personality Test.
- Final Merit: Based on combined marks of Main Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test. Candidates allotted to services based on merit cum preference and reservation norms.
