- Applicability: OTET is applicable to all candidates with requisite academic and training qualifications aspiring to become teachers for Classes I to VIII in State Govt., private aided, and private unaided schools in Odisha.
- CTET Option: Candidates intending to seek employment in private unaided schools also have the option to appear in CTET conducted by CBSE.
- Improvement: Candidates who have already qualified in OTET can also apply for further improvement.
- Mark Relaxation: 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks at Higher Secondary or Graduation level is allowed for SC, ST, SEBC, and PWD category candidates.
- Special Education: Persons with D.Ed. (Special Education) or B.Ed. (Special Education) shall undergo an NCTE recognized 6-month Special Programme in Elementary Education after appointment.
- Bridge Course: Candidates appointed as primary teachers (Classes I to V) with B.Ed qualification must mandatorily undergo a 6-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by NCTE within two years of appointment.
- Final Year Candidates: Candidates pursuing the final year of any NCTE/RCI recognized teacher education course are also eligible to appear in OTET.
- Exam Pattern: All questions are MCQ type with four alternatives; no negative marking; total duration per paper is 2½ hours.
