Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Written Examination: Objective type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with 4 options each. No negative marking.
- Paper-I (Primary Level – Class 1-5): 150 MCQs, 150 marks, Duration: 2.5 hours (150 minutes). Subjects: Child Development & Teaching Methods (30), Language-I Hindi (30), Language-II English/Urdu/Sanskrit (30), Mathematics (30), Environmental Studies (30).
- Paper-II (Upper Primary Level – Class 6-8): 150 MCQs, 150 marks, Duration: 2.5 hours (150 minutes). Subjects: Child Development & Teaching Methods (30), Language-I Hindi (30), Language-II English/Urdu/Sanskrit (30), Mathematics & Science / Social Studies / Any other subject (60).
- Qualifying Marks: General/EWS category: 90 out of 150 (60%). SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Freedom Fighter Dependents/Ex-Servicemen/Divyang: 82 out of 150 (55%).
- Score Normalization: If exam is held in multiple shifts/days, score normalization will be applied for comparative evaluation.
- Certificate Validity: UPTET certificate is valid for lifetime from the date of result declaration.

- Visit the official website www.upessc.gov.in
- Complete One Time Registration (OTR) – mandatory for all candidates
- After OTR, apply for the examination online
- Candidates wishing to appear in both Paper-I (Class 1-5) and Paper-II (Class 6-8) can select both in a single online application
- Pay the application fee online through SBI or ICICI Bank payment gateway
- Submit the online application before the last date i.e. 26-04-2026
- Corrections in application can be made till 01-05-2026
- Download and read the User Manual (Instruction Booklet) available in Hindi and English on the website before applying

- Exam Dates: 02, 03, 04 July 2026
- Exam Medium: Hindi and English (except language subjects)
- OTR Mandatory: One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory before applying for the exam.
- Certificate Distribution: UPTET certificate will be distributed electronically via DigiLocker.
- No photo/category/special reservation changes will be allowed in the certificate after issuance.
- Applicability: UPTET qualified candidates are eligible for appointment in government schools, local body schools, aided schools, and schools affiliated to national boards in Uttar Pradesh at primary and upper primary levels.
- Scribe Facility: Available for fully visually impaired/physically disabled candidates who are completely unable to write. Scribe must be brought by the candidate. Scribe’s qualification should not be more than Intermediate level of the exam year. Additional 30 minutes will be given to such candidates.
- Divyang Candidates: Must have minimum 40% disability certificate to avail special reservation benefits.
- Married Male Candidates with more than one living wife, or female candidates who married such a man, are not eligible unless exempted by the Governor.
