Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Shortlisting of Applications: Applications will be shortlisted based on the vacancy to call-up ratio for each Engineering stream. A cut-off will be applied on the cumulative percentage of marks obtained by candidates up to the final semester/year. Final year appearing candidates will be provisionally allowed to appear in SSB subject to meeting the cumulative percentage cut-off up to 6th semester/3rd year (Engineering), 8th semester/4th year (B.Arch), or 2nd semester/1st year (M.Sc).
- Allotment of Selection Centre & Dates: Shortlisted candidates will log in to the website and select their SSB dates and centres on a first-come, first-serve basis. SSB Centre and Date once selected will not be changed.
- SSB Interview (Two-Stage Process):
- Selection Centres: Prayagraj (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bengaluru (Karnataka), and Jalandhar (Punjab).
- Stage-1: Candidates who clear Stage-1 proceed to Stage-2. Those who fail Stage-1 are returned on the same day.
- Stage-2: Duration of SSB interviews is maximum five days.
- Medical Examination: Candidates recommended after Stage-2 will undergo a Medical Examination. SSB medical validity is 270 days from SMB to PCTA joining date.
- Merit List: Prepared engineering stream/subject-wise based on SSB marks. In case of equal SSB marks, the older candidate ranks higher. If both SSB marks and age are equal, the candidate with higher degree percentage ranks higher.
- Joining Pre-Commission Training Academy (PCTA): Candidates recommended by SSB and declared medically fit will be issued Joining Letters for training at IMA Dehradun in order of merit, subject to availability of vacancies and meeting all eligibility criteria.
- Permanent Commission: On successful completion of approximately 12 months of training at IMA Dehradun, cadets will be granted Permanent Commission in the rank of Lieutenant.

- Click on ‘Officer Entry Apply/Login’ and then click ‘Registration’ (skip if already registered).
- Fill the online registration form carefully after reading all instructions. Aadhaar number and Matriculation certificate are mandatory for registration.
- After registration, click on ‘Apply Online’ under Dashboard. A page ‘Officers Selection Eligibility’ will open.

- Type of Commission: Permanent Commission in the Indian Army in the rank of Lieutenant after successful completion of training. Initially granted Short Service Commission on probation from the date of commencement of course or reporting at IMA, whichever is later.
- Ante Date Seniority: One year ante date seniority from the date of commission will be granted to Engineering Graduates of TGC Entry in the rank of Lieutenant for seniority, promotion, and pay increment purposes.
- Training Duration: Approximately 12 months at Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun.
- Training Stipend: ₹56,100/- per month (Starting Pay in Level 10 of Pay Matrix) during training period.
- Cost of Training: Entire cost borne by Government. If Officer Cadet is withdrawn for reasons other than medical/beyond control, cost of training @ ₹20,481.96/- per week (tentative) is recoverable with 8% annual increment.
- Marriage During Training: Candidates are not allowed to marry during training. If married after application date, candidature will be cancelled even if successful at SSB/medical.
- Nationality: Indian citizen, or subject of Nepal, or person of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with intention to permanently settle in India (with eligibility certificate from Government of India where applicable).
- Gender: Only eligible unmarried Male Engineering Graduates can apply.
- Minimum Physical Standards: 2.4 Km Run in 10 min 30 sec; Push Up: 40; Pull Up: 06; Sit Up: 30; Squats: Two Sets of 30 Repetitions; Lunges: Two Sets of 10 Repetitions; Swimming: Should know fundamentals.
- Army Group Insurance Fund (AGIF): Officer Cadets insured for ₹1.25 Crore. Monthly subscription of ₹12,500/- to be paid in advance.
- Travelling Allowance: Candidates appearing for SSB for the first time for this type of commission are entitled to AC-III Tier to and fro Railway/Bus fare including reservation-cum-sleeper charges within Indian limits.
- Allocation of Arms/Services: Final allocation will be at the sole discretion of Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) prior to passing out from IMA.
- Promotion Criteria: Lieutenant (On Commission) → Captain (2 yrs) → Major (6 yrs) → Lt Colonel (13 yrs) → Colonel TS (26 yrs) → Colonel and above (Selection basis).
- Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500/- per month fixed for officers from Lieutenant to Brigadier rank.
- Other Allowances: Dearness Allowance, Para Reserve Allowance (₹2,625/month), Technical Allowance Tier-I (₹3,000/month), Technical Allowance Tier-II (₹4,500/month), Dress Allowance (₹20,000/year), Ration in Kind, Transport Allowance, Children Education Allowance (₹2,812.50/month per child for two eldest children up to 12th class), Hostel Subsidy (₹6,750/month per child), and various Field Area Allowances depending on rank and posting area.
- Ineligibility Conditions: Candidates with Engineering Degree from foreign countries; candidates debarred by UPSC; candidates arrested/convicted by criminal court; candidates withdrawn from NDA/IMA/OTA/Naval Academy/Air Force Academy or any Service Training Academy on disciplinary grounds; candidates whose final year/semester result will be declared after 01 Jul 2027.
- Document Requirements at SSB: Original documents must be carried (DIGILOCKER certificates not accepted in lieu of originals). Key documents include: Matriculation certificate, 12th class marksheet, Engineering Degree/Provisional Degree, all semester marksheets, CGPA conversion certificate, and civil verification documents.
