Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:

  1. Online Application Scrutiny: Online application forms and uploaded certificates will be scrutinized. Eligible candidates will be issued online admit cards.
  2. Documentation: Candidates must produce all original documents/certificates pertaining to age, education, caste, sports achievement, and other relevant documents before the Recruitment Board. Biometric capture will also be done. Minimum qualifying marks: 10 (for all categories).
  3. Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates who qualify in documentation will undergo PST. Standards: Male Height: 170 cms, Chest: 80 cms (unexpanded), 5 cms expansion; Female Height: 157 cms. Weight proportionate to height and age as per medical standards.
  4. Sports Trial Test: Qualifying in nature (40 marks total, minimum cut-off: 20 marks). Conducted by Board of Officers in the respective sports event. Marks from Sports Trial Test will NOT be considered in the final merit list. Exempted for candidates who have represented India in International Sports Events with clearance of Department of Youth Affairs & Sports.
  5. Merit List: Drawn on the basis of marks obtained as per sports achievement table (Para 4(c)(ii)). Tie-breaking: highest marks > higher national achievement > younger age > alphabetical order.
  6. Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Candidates shortlisted on merit will undergo DME as per Uniform Guidelines for Recruitment Medical Examination for CAPFs and AR (MHA U.O. No. A.VI-1/2014-Rectt(SSB) dated 20.05.2015).
  7. Review Medical Examination (RME): Candidates declared unfit in DME may undergo RME on giving written consent within 24 hours. Decision of RME Board is final.

  • Eligibility: Only meritorious sportspersons who are medal winners/position holders and/or participants as per Para-4(c) are eligible. Sports achievements must be from 01/01/2024 to 01/11/2026.
  • Nationality: Indian citizens including subjects of Nepal and Bhutan.
  • Gender: Both Male and Female candidates are eligible.
  • Service Obligation: Selected candidates shall serve for a minimum period of 10 years. Resignation before 10 years requires refund of three months’ pay and allowances or cost of training, whichever is higher.
  • Posting: Selected candidates will be liable to serve anywhere in India or abroad.
  • Governing Rules: Candidates shall be governed by the ITBPF Act 1992 and Rules 1994.
  • Not Open For: Physically challenged persons and ex-servicemen.
  • No TA/DA: No Travelling Allowance or Daily Allowance will be admissible for journey to recruitment venue.
  • Allowances: Dearness Allowance, Ration Money, Washing Allowance, Special Compensatory Allowance (border areas), free uniform, free accommodation or HRA, Transport Allowance, Free Leave Pass, Free medical facilities, and pension benefits under New Restructured Defined Contributory Pension Scheme (w.e.f. 01.01.2004).
  • Sports Marking System: Marks awarded based on level of competition (Olympic Games Gold: 100 marks to Khelo India Youth/Winter Games Bronze: 10 marks). Candidate awarded marks for only the highest medal/position secured.
  • Eye Sight Standard: Minimum distance vision 6/6 and 6/9 for both eyes without correction. Colour blind persons are not eligible.
  • Tattoo Policy: Religious symbols/figures and names permitted; only on inner aspect of left forearm or dorsum of hands; size less than 1/4 of the particular body part.
