Covers Code of Civil Procedure 1908, Negotiable Instruments Act 1881, Transfer of Property Act 1882, Indian Contract Act 1872, Specific Relief Act 1963, Indian Constitution, Karnataka Rent Act 1999, CrPC 1973 & BNSS 2023, IPC 1860 & BNS 2023, Indian Evidence Act 1872 & BSA 2023, General Knowledge and Reasoning. Minimum pass marks: 50 (SC/ST/PwBD), 60 (Others). Candidates equal to 10 times the number of vacancies will be called for Main Examination.

- Translation Paper – 100 marks (English to Kannada and Kannada to English)
- Law Paper I – 100 marks (CPC, CrPC/BNSS, Evidence Act/BSA, Pleading, Constitution)
- Law Paper II – 100 marks (Framing of Issues and Writing Judgments in Civil Cases)
- Law Paper III – 100 marks (Framing of Charges and Writing Judgments in Criminal Cases)

- Notification Subject to Court Order: This notification is subject to the final outcome of Writ Petition No. 200448/2025 c/w 17968/2025 and 3145/2023 pending before the Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka.
- Probation and Training: Selected candidates will be on probation for two years (extendable). Candidates must compulsorily undergo training for not less than one year before presiding the Court.
- Kannada Language Examination: Candidates shall pass the Kannada Language Examination conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission as per Karnataka Civil Services Rules, 1974.
- Examination Centres (Preliminary): Bengaluru, Dharwad, and Kalaburagi. Change of centre will not be permitted under any circumstances.
- Practicing Certificate: Candidates must furnish a certificate of practicing advocacy issued by the Principal Judicial Officer or an advocate with minimum 10 years standing, duly endorsed.
- Disqualification: Non-citizens of India, persons compulsorily retired/removed/dismissed from service, persons convicted of moral turpitude, persons with bigamous marital status, and those who directly/indirectly influence the recruiting authority are disqualified.
- Reservation Documents Required: SC/ST/OBC caste certificate, PwBD certificate, Ex-servicemen discharge certificate, Rural Study Certificate, Kannada Medium certificate, Transgender certificate (as applicable).
- Persons with Benchmark Disability: Scribe/Reader facility available; compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour for scribe users; 1 hour extra for 3-hour exam for PwBD not using scribe; Braille slate allowed.
- Fee Once Paid: Will not be refunded under any circumstances.
