Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Merit-Based Selection: The total marks obtained in all years/semesters will be summed up to arrive at an aggregate percentage. A merit list will be prepared accordingly. No rounding off will be done and no weightage will be given to any particular semester/year.
- Tie-Breaking: In case two candidates have the same marks, the candidate with the older age shall be selected. If dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed the matriculation exam earlier shall be selected.
- First Preference: Land loser candidates (those who lost land for the Konkan Railway Project) will be given first preference. Eligible persons include the land loser himself/herself, spouse, son, unmarried daughter, paternal grandson, and paternal unmarried granddaughter.
- Second Preference: Candidates belonging to districts under KRCL jurisdiction — Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg (Maharashtra); North Goa and South Goa (Goa); Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada (Karnataka) — will be given second preference.
- Document Verification: Candidates must appear for document verification on the scheduled date with all original documents and a valid approved NATS ID.
- Medical Fitness: Final medical fitness shall be certified by KRCL’s Medical Authority in the respective medical category.

- Training Duration: One year as per the Apprentices (Amendment) Act, 1973.
- Place of Training: Candidates shall be deployed anywhere in the jurisdiction of KRCL.
- Stipend: Graduate Apprentices: Rs. 12,300/- p.m. total (Rs. 6,150/- from Govt. via DBT + Rs. 6,150/- Establishment share). Diploma Apprentices: Rs. 10,900/- p.m. total (Rs. 5,450/- from Govt. via DBT + Rs. 5,450/- Establishment share).
- Bank Account: Candidates must have a bank account in their own name linked with Aadhaar and PAN card for DBT stipend transfer. The same account must be retained till completion of training.
- No Employment Guarantee: Completion of apprenticeship training does not confer any right to absorption/employment in KRCL.
- Passing Out Year: Candidates who passed out in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025 are eligible.
- Previous Training: Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act in any Govt./PSU/Private organization are NOT eligible.
- Medical Category: BE/Diploma posts require Medical Category B1; General Stream Graduates require Medical Category C1.
- Lodging/Boarding: Candidates must make their own arrangements during the training period.
- Canvassing: Any canvassing or pressuring through any source will disqualify the candidature without prior intimation.
