- The Screening Committee will shortlist applications based on the candidate’s credentials and areas of specialization notified in the advertisement.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to give teaching and research presentations, followed by a personal interview by a Selection Committee.
- Shortlisted candidates will be intimated through email to the address mentioned in the application form.
- Mere fulfilment of minimum qualifications and experience does not entitle any candidate to be invited to the selection process. The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates based on academic brilliance, work experience, credit points, and specific departmental requirements.
- SC/ST/PwD candidates invited for interview shall be reimbursed travel expenses as per Govt. of India norms for onward and return journey by the shortest route from their correspondence address/working place in India, subject to production of tickets and proof of working/residence.
- Selected candidates should be prepared to join duty at NITK within the stipulated time.
- Period of probation will be one year for all cadres except Assistant Professor Grade II (Pay Level 10), which may be extended by the NITK Board of Governors depending on performance.
- The contractual appointment in the case of Assistant Professor Grade-II stands terminated at the end of tenure not exceeding five years.

- Eligibility: Applications are invited from qualified Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders. Candidates should have secured First Class in UG and PG degrees (60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale if class not mentioned).
- Reservation: SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwD reservation as per Govt. of India norms. PwD reservation: 02 vacancies. Women candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
- Age: Fresh appointments beyond the age of 60 years are encouraged only for distinguished candidates with an impactful, industry-oriented R&D career, having ongoing or approved externally funded projects.
- NITK PhD Candidates: Candidates who have acquired Ph.D. from NITK, Surathkal, can apply only after completing at least 3 years of post-Ph.D. experience outside NITK (does not apply to existing regular NITK faculty).
- Work Experience: More than six months of experience in a regular position with a pay scale is necessary. Part-time, daily-wage, visiting/guest/temporary faculty experience will not be counted.
- Integrated Degrees: Candidates with Ph.D. directly after undergraduate degree from reputed institutions, or with integrated Master’s/integrated PhD degree in specified areas, will also be considered.
- OBC-NCL/EWS Certificate: Must be issued by Competent Authority on or after 01.04.2026. Applications without valid OBC-NCL or EWS certificates will be considered in the Unreserved (UR) category.
- Professional Development Allowance (PDA): ₹3 Lakhs for every block period of 3 years (₹1 Lakh per year) on a reimbursable basis.
- Research Seed Grant: New faculty are provided with a Research Seed Grant of up to ₹5.0 Lakhs.
- Campus Facilities: On-campus healthcare, quarters with Fiber Optic Internet & GAIL piped gas, Olympic-size swimming pool, CBSE/ICSE/Kendriya Vidyalaya schools, Staff Recreation Club, and more.
