Selection Procedure

- Stage 1 – Computer Based Test (CBT): Objective type test of 2 hours duration comprising 85 questions across 4 sections: Concerned Domain (40 Qs), General Awareness (10 Qs), Aptitude Test (25 Qs), English Language (10 Qs). No negative marking. Qualifying marks: General/EWS/OBC – 45%; SC/ST/PwBD – 40%. CBT Score carries 85 marks weightage in final merit.
- Shortlisting for Interview: Candidates shortlisted in 1:5 ratio (vacancy to candidate) based on CBT score for Personal Interview.
- Group Discussion (if applicable): Shortlisted candidates may be subjected to Group Discussion (non-qualifying in nature).
- Stage 2 – Personal Interview: Carries 15 marks weightage. Qualifying marks: General/EWS/OBC – 60% (i.e., 9/15); SC/ST/PwBD – 40% (i.e., 6/15).
- Stage 3 – Medical Fitness Examination: Candidates who qualify CBT and Interview are called for Medical Examination as per ONGC Medical Examination of Employees Rules.
- Final Merit: Based on total of CBT Score (85) + Interview Score (15) = 100 marks. In case of tie, higher CBT score is preferred; if still tied, older candidate is ranked higher.
