Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Online Computer-Based Test (CBT): The exam consists of 100 objective type multiple-choice questions (MCQ) of 2 hours (120 minutes) duration. Topics include: Questions related to the concerned course (50 questions), Punjabi Language Knowledge (20 questions), General Knowledge (10 questions), Reasoning (10 questions), and General English (10 questions). Each correct answer carries 1 mark and there is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: General Category candidates must score at least 45%. Reserved Category candidates (EWS, SC, BC, Ex-Serviceman, Freedom Fighter, Sports Person, PWD) must score at least 35%.
- Normalization: In case the examination is held in multiple shifts, normalization of marks will be applied to neutralize the effect of difference in difficulty level across shifts.
- Merit List: Category-wise final merit list shall be prepared on the basis of marks scored in the online exam after normalization (if applicable). In case of a tie, the candidate with higher age shall be placed at higher merit.
- Document Checking: Candidates who qualify in the online examination shall be called for document checking to verify eligibility criteria including qualification, age, and reservation certificates.
- Offer of Appointment: Candidates found eligible after document checking shall be considered on the selection panel and issued an offer of appointment by the appointing authority.

PSPCL Junior Engineer (JE) Electrical Recruitment 2026
- Probation Period: 3 years or as per instructions issued by Govt. of Punjab from time to time. During probation, candidates shall be paid ‘minimum admissible pay’ only (Rs. 35,400/-) without any Grade Pay, Dearness Allowance, annual increment or any other allowance except travelling allowance and medical reimbursement.
- Training: Selected candidates may be deputed to undergo training at Technical Training Institute, PSPCL, Patiala or any other institute in India.
- Joining Period: Candidates issued appointment letters shall be given 21 days to join. A final notice of 21 days will be given if not joined on scheduled date. Failure to join within stipulated time will result in automatic cancellation of appointment letter.
- Validity of Selection Panel: One year from the date of approval of 1st selection panel by the competent authority. After expiry, waiting list shall cease to exist.
- Punjab Domicile: Reservation of posts for reserved categories (including Women Reservation) is applicable for candidates of Punjab Domicile only.
- Women Reservation: 209 out of 622 posts are reserved for women candidates as per Punjab Civil Services (Reservation for Women) Rules 2020.
- No TA/DA: No travelling allowance or daily allowance will be paid for journeys performed for online test/document checking/counseling.
- Prohibited Items in Exam Hall: Mobile phones, cellphones, handbags, purses, electronics/non-electronics instruments, ornaments, goods/articles etc. are strictly not allowed in the examination complex.
- Identity Proof Required: Candidates must bring printout of Admit Card, Aadhaar Card, and one more photo identity proof in original (Employer ID (Govt.), Driving License, Voter Card, Passport) on the day of examination.
