- Computer Based Online Test (CBT):
- Part-I (Qualifying): 50 MCQ questions on Punjabi Language. Minimum 50% marks (25 out of 50) required to qualify. Failure disqualifies the candidate from Part-II consideration.
- Part-II (Merit): 100 MCQ questions comprising: Technical Questions related to the post (50), Punjabi Language Knowledge (20), General Knowledge (10), Reasoning (10), Arithmetic (10). Bilingual (English/Punjabi) except Punjabi language questions. No negative marking. Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes).
- Minimum qualifying marks in Part-II: General Category – 25%; Reserved Category – 20%.
- In case of tie in marks, higher age candidate gets higher merit.
- Normalization of marks will be applied if exam is held in multiple shifts.
- Document Checking: Candidates qualifying the online test will be called for document checking to verify eligibility criteria (qualification, age, reservation certificates etc.).
- Final Selection/Offer of Appointment: Candidates found eligible after document checking will be placed on the selection panel and issued offer of appointment by the appointing authority.
- Training: Selected candidates may be deputed for 6-month Classroom and On the Job training.

PSPCL Assistant Lineman ALM 2026 Vacancy Detail
- Probation Period: 3 years or as per Punjab Government instructions. During probation, only minimum admissible pay (Rs. 19990/-) will be paid without Grade Pay, DA, annual increment or other allowances (except TA and medical reimbursement).
- Reservation: Applicable only for Punjab Domicile candidates. Punjab Domicile proof required at document checking.
- Age Relaxation: SC/BC: 5 years; PwD: 10 years; Widow/Divorced/Separated women: upper age limit 40 years; Ex-servicemen: deduction of service period (resultant age not to exceed max age by more than 3 years); PSPCL/PSTCL/Punjab Govt. employees: to the extent of service rendered.
- Punjabi Language Requirement: Must have passed Punjabi at Matriculation level or equivalent. Also, a qualifying test of Punjabi Language (Part-I of CBT) with minimum 50% marks is mandatory as per Punjab Civil Services (General and Common Conditions of Service) Rule, 2022.
- Sports Person Category: Final merit prepared by O/o Director/Sports, Punjab. Sports Gradation Certificates must be submitted to Recruitment Section, Head Office, PSPCL, Patiala before or up to the last date of online application submission.
- EWS Candidates: Must produce Income and Asset Certificate for FY 2025-26 valid for FY 2026-27 at document checking.
- PwD Category: Only persons with Benchmark Disability (not less than 40% specified disability) with Punjab domicile are eligible. Suitable disabilities: Partially Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Autism Spectrum Disorder (mild), Specific Learning Disability, Mental Illness.
- Joining: 21 days given to join after appointment letter. Final notice of 21 days if not joined on scheduled date. Failure to join within stipulated time results in automatic cancellation of appointment letter.
