- Written Examination:
- Paper-I: General Ability and Intelligence Test – 200 Marks (Objective/Multiple Choice Type in English). Topics: General Mental Ability, General Science, Current Events of National and International Importance, Indian Polity and Economy, History of India, Indian and World Geography.
- Paper-II: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension – 200 Marks. Essay component may be written in English or Assamese; Précis writing, Comprehension and other language skills in English only.
- Part A: Essay questions (80 Marks) – in Assamese or English.
- Part B: Comprehension, Précis writing, other communication/language skills in English only (120 Marks).
- Paper-I shall be evaluated first; Paper-II evaluated only for candidates qualifying Paper-I.
- Physical Standards / Physical Efficiency Tests (PET): Candidates qualifying the written examination shall be summoned for Physical Standards and PET.
- 100 meters race: Male – 16 seconds (Max), Female – 18 seconds (Max)
- 800 meters race: Male – 3 min 45 sec (Max), Female – 4 min 45 sec (Max)
- Long Jump: Male – 3.5 Meters (Min, 3 chances), Female – 3.0 Meters (Min, 3 chances)
- Medical Standards Tests: Conducted for candidates qualifying the PET as per Schedule-IV(2) of the Assam Home Guards Service Rules, 2020.
- Interview / Personality Test: 50 Marks – for candidates qualifying Medical Standards Tests.
- Final Merit: Based on marks obtained in Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test.
