Selection Procedure

- Preliminary Written Examination (Stage 1): One paper of 200 marks with 100 multiple-choice questions, duration 2 hours. Subject: General Knowledge and Current Affairs. – Paper I: General Hindi – 200 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours. Minimum qualifying marks: 30%. Marks of this paper will NOT be counted in merit.
– Paper II: General Studies, General Science, Civics, Indian History, Indian Geography, Mathematics, and Mental Ability – 200 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours.
Negative marking: 0.2 marks deducted for each wrong answer in both stages. Candidates equal to 6 times the number of vacancies (category-wise, merit-based) will be shortlisted for Physical Efficiency Test. - Physical Efficiency Test / Physical Standard Test (Stage 3):
Physical Standards:
– Height: General/OBC Males: min. 165 cm; EBC/SC/ST Males: min. 160 cm; All Females: min. 155 cm.
– Chest (Males only): General/OBC/EBC: unexpanded 81 cm, expanded 86 cm (min. 5 cm expansion); SC/ST: unexpanded 79 cm, expanded 84 cm (min. 5 cm expansion).
– Weight (Females): Minimum 48 kg.
Physical Efficiency Test Events:
– Running: Males – 1 mile (1.6 km) in 6 min 30 sec; Females – 1 km in 6 min.
– High Jump: Males – min. 4 feet; Females – min. 3 feet.
– Long Jump: Males – min. 12 feet; Females – min. 9 feet.
– Shot Put: Males – 16 lb shot, min. 16 feet; Females – 12 lb shot, min. 10 feet.
Maximum 3 attempts allowed for High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put. Candidates must qualify in all events separately. Candidates failing to complete the run in stipulated time will not be allowed to participate in other events. - Merit List & Recommendation: Final merit list prepared based on marks in Main Written Examination (Paper II only), category-wise. Tie-breaking: by date of birth (older candidate ranked higher), then by educational qualification, then by alphabetical order of name in English as per 10th Board certificate. Minimum qualifying marks for final merit list: SC/ST/Female: 32%; EBC: 34%; OBC: 36.5%; General: 40%.
