Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Stage 1 – Preliminary Written Examination: One paper of 200 marks with 100 multiple-choice questions; duration 2 hours. Questions on General Knowledge and Current Affairs. Candidates scoring less than 30% will be disqualified. Candidates equal to 20 times the number of vacancies (category-wise, merit-based) will be selected for the Main Exam. Normalized scores (Equi-Percentile Method) will be used for multi-session exams.
- Stage 2 – Main Written Examination:
Paper 1: General Hindi – 200 marks, 100 MCQs, 2 hours. Minimum qualifying marks: 30%. Marks not counted in merit.
Paper 2: General Studies, General Science, Civics, Indian History, Indian Geography, Mathematics, and Mental Ability – 200 marks, 100 MCQs, 2 hours.
Negative marking: 0.2 marks deducted per wrong answer in both stages.
Candidates equal to 6 times the number of vacancies (category-wise, merit-based) will be selected for Physical Efficiency Test. - Stage 3 – Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
Running: Men (all categories): 1 mile (1.6 km) in 6 min 30 sec; Women (all categories): 1 km in 6 min.
High Jump: Men: minimum 4 feet; Women: minimum 3 feet.
Long Jump: Men: minimum 12 feet; Women: minimum 9 feet.
Shot Put: Men: 16 lb shot, minimum 16 feet; Women: 12 lb shot, minimum 10 feet.
Maximum 3 attempts for High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put. Candidates must pass all events separately. PET is qualifying only. - Merit List: Final merit list prepared based on Main Written Exam marks (category-wise). Tie-breaking: by date of birth (older candidate ranked higher), then by educational qualification, then by name in English alphabetical order as per 10th Board certificate.
- Medical Examination & Character Verification: Conducted by the appointing authority before final appointment.
