Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:

  1. Screening: Online applications received within the stipulated last date will be screened by a duly constituted Screening Committee to shortlist candidates for the Trade Test.
  2. Trade Test (Qualifying): Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a Trade Test in the relevant/respective trade. This test is qualifying in nature. The syllabus will be notified on the official website www.cmeri.res.in.
  3. Competitive Written Examination: Candidates who qualify the Trade Test will be called for a Competitive Written Examination (OMR-based or Computer-Based Objective Type Multiple Choice).
    • Paper-I (1 hour): Mental Ability Test – 50 Questions, 100 Marks (2 marks per correct answer, no negative marking). Covers General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, Problem Solving, Situational Judgement.
    • Paper-II (30 minutes): General Awareness (25 Qs, 75 marks) + English Language (25 Qs, 75 marks). 3 marks per correct answer, -1 for wrong answer. Evaluated only if minimum threshold marks secured in Paper-I.
    • Paper-III (1 hour): Concerned Subject/Trade – 50 Questions, 150 Marks (3 marks per correct answer, -1 for wrong answer). Evaluated only if minimum threshold marks secured in Paper-I.
  4. Merit List: Final merit list prepared based on marks obtained in Paper-II and Paper-III only.
  5. Tie Resolution: As per CSIR Letter No.5-1(211)/2014-PD dated 30.05.2023 – higher marks in concerned subject, lesser negative marks, date of birth (older candidate preferred), earlier acquisition of essential degree, alphabetical order of first names.
