Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in Std X (Class 10th).
- For COVID Pass candidates in X std., proof of IX std mark sheet / X std Half yearly mark sheet duly signed by the Principal of the institution will be taken into account for preparation of merit list.
- In case of two candidates having the same marks, the candidate with older age shall be preferred.
- If dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed Std X examination earlier shall be considered first.
- Fresher candidates can exercise their option for trades; trade allotment is based on order of merit and availability of vacancy. Once allotted, no change of trade will be entertained.
- Ex-ITI candidates will be trained in the trade in which they hold the ITI certificate.
- Selected candidates must produce a Medical Certificate at the time of document verification, signed by a Government authorized doctor (Gazetted) not below the rank of Asst. Surgeon of Central/State Hospital.

ICF Chennai Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – Apply Online for 1010 Posts
- Training Only, Not Employment: This notification is purely for giving Apprenticeship training and not for employment. No employment is guaranteed to the apprentices on completion of their training.
- Eligibility Restriction: Candidates with higher qualifications than 10th/Matric/SSLC (viz. Degree/Diploma, Engineering Degree) and Course Completed Act Apprentices are NOT eligible to apply (except MLT where qualification is 12th/HSC).
- Residency Condition: Applicants must be resident and/or registered with a local Employment Exchange falling within the jurisdiction of Tamil Nadu. This condition does not apply to wards of Railway employees.
- Wards of Railway Employees: Must submit a copy of Identity Card/’SERVICE CERTIFICATE’ of the Railway Employee attested by a Gazetted Officer, along with UMID Card/PPO copy as proof.
- Stipend Rates: Freshers (Class 10th pass): ₹8200/- per month; Freshers (Class 12th pass): ₹9600/- per month; Ex-ITI (NTC/SCVT holders): ₹9600/- per month. During the second year, there shall be a 10% increase in the prescribed minimum stipend.
- Training Period: Fitter, Electrician & Machinist (Fresher): 2 years; Carpenter & Painter (Fresher): 2 years; Welder (Fresher): 1 year 3 months; MLT-Radiology & Pathology (Fresher): 1 year 3 months; All Ex-ITI trades: 1 year.
- PwBD Eligibility: Only persons suffering from not less than 40% of relevant disability are eligible for reservation. Disability certificate must be issued by Central/State Government.
- Canvassing: Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidature.
- Accommodation: ICF administration will not provide any food/accommodation. Candidates must arrange at their own cost.
- Contract of Apprenticeship: Selected candidates must execute a contract of apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act-1961. Minors’ guardians can execute the contract.
- Transfer Certificate: Original Transfer Certificate for completion of qualifying examination (Std. X/XII/ITI) must be produced during verification of certificates.
- Declaration: Candidates must submit a declaration that they are aware they have no right of employment in ICF/Railways in future.
