Must have proficiency in music (accuracy in tempo, pitch, singing, notation). Must be proficient in playing any one instrument from List A (Concert Flute/Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Euphonium, Bass/Tuba) or List B (Keyboard/Organ/Piano, Guitar, Violin/Viola/String Bass, Percussion/Drums, All Indian Classical Instruments). Must have Musical Experience Certificate (Grade 5th or above from recognised music institute, OR Diploma in music from recognised university, OR Certificate of participation/awards at various events).
- Age Limit: Born between 01 January 2005 and 01 July 2009 (both dates inclusive). Upper age limit on date of enrolment should be 22 years.
- Pay Scale: ₹30,000/- per month (1st Year, In-hand ₹21,000/-); ₹33,000/- per month (2nd Year, In-hand ₹23,100/-); ₹36,500/- per month (3rd Year, In-hand ₹25,550/-); ₹40,000/- per month (4th Year, In-hand ₹28,000/-). Plus Risk & Hardship, Dress and Travel allowances. Seva Nidhi Package of approximately ₹10.04 Lakhs on exit after 4 years. Non-contributory Life Insurance cover of ₹48 Lakhs.
Selection Procedure

- Verification of Eligibility: Original/DigiLocker verified educational certificates and other required documents will be scrutinised at the rally venue prior to Physical Fitness Test (PFT).
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT) – Part I: 1.6 Km run – Male candidates must complete within 7 minutes; Female candidates within 8 minutes.
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT) – Part II (after 10 minutes recuperation):
- Male: 10 Push-ups (1 min), 10 Sit-ups (1 min), 20 Squats (1 min)
- Female: 10 Sit-ups (1 min 30 sec), 15 Squats (1 min)
- English Written Test: Objective type, 30 questions, 30 minutes duration, based on Matriculation/10th CBSE syllabus. Answers on OMR sheet. 1 mark per correct answer, 0 for unattempted/multiple answers, no negative marking. Candidates must qualify this paper.
- Music Proficiency Test (MPT): Proficiency test in playing musical instruments (individually or in group), conducted for candidates who qualify the English Written Test.
- Medical Examination: Conducted in September 2026 at 11 AFH, Hindon and SMC, AF Stn Jalahalli for candidates who qualify the Music Proficiency Test. Includes blood tests, urine tests, biochemistry, chest X-ray, ECG, and other investigations as required. Candidates declared unfit may appeal via Appeal Medical Board (AMB) by depositing ₹40/- within three working days.
- Provisional Select List (PSL): Displayed on 14 November 2026 at rally venues and CASB web portal. Valid for 6 months. Up to 25% of each batch may be enrolled in regular cadre after 4 years.

- Marital Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible. Candidates must undertake not to marry during the 4-year engagement period. Female candidates must also undertake not to get pregnant during the engagement period.
- Medical Standards: Minimum height: Male – 162 cm; Female – 152 cm (147 cm for North East/hilly Uttarakhand, 150 cm for Lakshadweep). Chest: Male – minimum 77 cm with 5 cm expansion; Female – minimum 5 cm expansion. Normal hearing (forced whisper at 6 meters). Minimum 14 dental points; no fixed/removable orthodontic appliances. Visual Acuity: 6/12 each eye correctable to 6/6; Hypermetropia +2.0D, Myopia -1D, ±0.50D Astigmatism; Colour Vision CP-II. LASIK/PRK not accepted.
- Body Tattoo: Permanent tattoos not permitted except on inner forearm (elbow to wrist), back of hand/reverse of palm, or tribal tattoos as per custom. Offensive/obscene tattoos prohibited. Candidates with tattoos must submit two postcard-size photographs.
- Sikh Candidates: Permitted to grow hair and retain beard/moustache as per religious custom.
- Ex-Government Employees: Candidates discharged from Indian Army/Navy/other Govt. organisations are eligible if discharged with no adverse entries. Must produce original discharge certificate. Candidates discharged from IAF for any reason are NOT eligible.
- NDPS Policy: Zero tolerance for narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Consumption is a reject criterion.
- Engagement Period: 4 years under Air Force Act 1950. No release at own request during engagement period except in exceptional cases with Competent Authority approval.
- Post-Engagement: Up to 25% of each batch may be offered enrolment in regular cadre as Airman based on performance and organisational requirements. Agniveervayu will NOT be eligible for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) status after discharge.
- Seva Nidhi Package: Approximately ₹10.04 Lakhs on exit after 4 years (excluding interest). No Provident Fund, gratuity, or pensionary benefits.
- Insurance: Non-contributory Life Insurance cover of ₹48 Lakhs during engagement period.
- Agniveer Skill Certificate: Detailed Skill-Set Certificate provided at end of engagement period.
- Commissioning Exams: Agniveervayu permitted to appear in all commissioning examinations in Defence Forces (maximum 5 attempts) during engagement period subject to conditions.
