Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Selection will be made through a Written Examination (Computer Based Test (CBT) / Tablet Based Test (TBT) / Offline (OMR) based examination) tentatively scheduled in February 2027.
- The examination will be conducted separately for Junior Engineer (Civil) (Degree), Junior Engineer (Civil) (Diploma), and Junior Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical) (Diploma).
- If the examination is conducted in more than one phase/session, normalization of marks will be applied.
- Exam Pattern: Total 120 marks, 2 hours duration. Part A: General Knowledge (Rajasthan History, Art & Culture, Geography, Political & Administrative System) – 40 marks. Part B: Technical Subject (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering as applicable) – 80 marks. All questions are Multiple Choice (MCQ) with equal marks.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 40% of total marks. Candidates scoring less than 40% will not be eligible for appointment.
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
- OMR-based exam: Each question has 5 options (A, B, C, D, E). If a question is not attempted, option E must be darkened. If none of the 5 circles is darkened for more than 10% of questions, the candidate will be disqualified.
- Allocation of selected candidates to departments (PWD, Water Resources, Public Health Engineering) will be done on the basis of category-wise merit and priority filled by candidates in the online application.

- If One Time Registration (OTR) fee has not been paid, complete OTR first by selecting your category, disability status, and home state, and pay the prescribed registration fee.

- Departments Covered: Public Works Department (PWD), Water Resources Department, and Public Health Engineering Department, Rajasthan.
- Total Vacancies: 874 posts (793 Non-Scheduled Area + 81 Scheduled Area).
- Pay Scale: Pay Matrix Level-10 as per 7th Pay Commission. Fixed remuneration will be paid during the 2-year probation period as per Government orders.
- Probation Period: All directly recruited persons will be on probation for 2 years. During probation, only fixed remuneration will be paid; no pay scale, HRA, DA, or other allowances will be admissible.
- Reservation: Reservations for SC, ST, OBC, MBC, EWS, Women (30% horizontal), Ex-Servicemen (12.5% horizontal), Outstanding Sports Persons (2% horizontal), and Divyang/PwD (4% horizontal) as per applicable rules.
- Age Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS male candidates (Rajasthan domicile); 5 years for General category women; 10 years for SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS women (Rajasthan domicile); 15 years for Ex-Servicemen (max upper age 50 years, 55 years for direct recruitment with lower post experience); 5 years for Divyang/PwD candidates (in addition to category relaxation); No upper age limit for widows and divorced women (subject to retirement age).
- OTR (One Time Registration): Candidates who have already paid OTR fee need not pay again. Candidates absent from 2 or more exams in a financial year may have their OTR blocked; penalty fee of Rs. 750/- for first block, Rs. 1500/- for second block.
- Application Correction: Candidates can edit their online application during the application period and for 3 days after closing at a fee of Rs. 300/-. A second correction window of 7 days will be provided after the exam. Name, father’s name, date of birth, photograph, signature, and thumb impression cannot be changed after final submission.
- Application Withdrawal: Candidates may withdraw their application approximately 1 month before the exam (3-day window). Details will be notified on the Board’s website.
- Nationality: Indian citizen, or subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01-01-1962, or person of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with intention to permanently settle in India.
- Marriage Registration: Marriage registration is mandatory for appointment in government service as per Government circular dated 22-05-2006.
- Disqualification: Candidates with more than 2 children born on or after 01-06-2002 are not eligible. Candidates with more than one living spouse, or who have accepted dowry, are also disqualified.
- Scribe/Compensatory Time: PwD candidates may request a scribe or compensatory time as per RSSB guidelines. UDID card is mandatory for PwD candidates applying under disability reservation.
