- Gender: Unmarried Males only (including Wards of Battle Casualties of Indian Army Personnel).
- Nationality: Indian citizens, subjects of Nepal, or persons of Indian origin from specified countries with intention to permanently settle in India (with eligibility certificate from Government of India where applicable). Gorkha subjects of Nepal do not require eligibility certificate.
- NCC Service Requirement: Minimum 2/3 years (as applicable) in Senior Division/Wing of NCC. Minimum ‘B’ Grade in NCC ‘C’ Certificate Exam. Provisional NCC ‘C’ Certificate NOT accepted at SSB.
- Training: 49 weeks at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai from April 2027. Stipend during training: ₹56,100/- per month. Successful candidates awarded ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies’ by University of Madras.
- Rank on Commissioning: Lieutenant (Level 10, ₹56,100–₹1,77,500).
- Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500/- per month (Lieutenant to Brigadier).
- Tenure: 10 years (extendable by 4 years). Option for Permanent Commission after 10 years. Special provision for release after 5 years of service.
- Release Options: After 5 years, 10 years, or 14 years of service.
- Reserve Liability: 5 years + 2 years voluntary, or up to age 40 (whichever is earlier) after release.
- Army Group Insurance Fund (AGIF): Insurance of ₹1.25 Crore during training. Monthly subscription: ₹12,500/-.
