Selection Procedure

- Technical Proficiency Test (Only for Technical Urban Home Guard candidates): Qualifying in nature. Full marks: 100, Pass marks: 30.
- Merit List Preparation: Based on marks obtained in physical test and other criteria as per notification. Sports achievements at National/State level carry additional bonus marks (National: 1st-6 marks, 2nd-4 marks, 3rd-2 marks; State: 1st-3 marks, 2nd-2 marks, 3rd-1 mark).
- Document Verification, Medical Examination & Police Character Verification: For selected candidates.

- Nature of Post: Home Guard Corps is a voluntary organization. Home Guards are voluntary members. This is NOT a salaried government job. Allowance is paid only for days of actual duty deployment at government-prescribed rates.
- Total Vacancies: 772 (635 Rural + 137 Urban). These are provisional numbers and may be revised without prior notice.
- Reservation: 50% posts reserved for women in both Rural and Urban categories. 5% of women’s reserved posts are for divorced/abandoned/widowed women. 50% of Urban posts are for technically skilled candidates.
- Physical Standards:
Height – Male (General/OBC/BC): 162 cm; Male (SC/ST): 157 cm; Female (All): 148 cm.
Chest (Male only) – General/OBC/BC: 79 cm; SC/ST: 76 cm. - Technical Proficiency (Urban Technical): Candidates must be skilled in technical fields such as Doctor, Engineer, Advocate, Professor, Nurse, Computer Operator, Typist, Licensed Driver (HMV/LMV), Cook, Carpenter, Cobbler, Washerman, Barber, Electrician, Gardener, Plumber, etc.
- Government Employees: Up to 10% of Urban Home Guard vacancies can be filled by government employees. Educational qualification marks for government employees: Post Graduate-10, Graduate-8, Intermediate-6, Matriculation-4.
- Residential Eligibility: Rural applicants must be permanent residents of the respective block in Deoghar district. Urban applicants must be ordinary residents of the urban area of Deoghar district.
