  • Selection is made purely on the basis of merit obtained in a Written/OMR Examination (Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions).
  • The examination is set in English language only.
  • There is negative marking of one-fourth (25%) of the marks assigned to a question for each wrong answer.
  • No interview stage is conducted for these posts.
  • The date, venue, and syllabus for the examination will be notified separately on the JKSSB official website.
  • Admission to the examination is provisional; detailed scrutiny of applications for eligibility is not undertaken at the time of the written examination.
  • Candidates shortlisted after the written examination will be called for Document Verification (DV).
  • Candidates with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) may avail the facility of a Scribe and/or compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of examination on producing required certificates.

  • Domicile Requirement: Candidates must be Domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and must possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the Competent Authority on or before the cut-off date (9 October 2026).
  • Age Calculation: Age is calculated as on 1 January 2026. Maximum age: OM – 40 years; SC/ST-1/ST-2/RBA/ALC-IB/EWS/OBC – 43 years; PwBD – 42 years. Ex-Servicemen may deduct the period of service from actual age (resultant age not to exceed prescribed limit by more than 3 years).
  • Reservation: Reservation is applicable as per category-wise vacancy break-up and J&K Reservation Act/Rules. Candidates must possess a valid Category Certificate as on the cut-off date and upload it at the time of application.
  • Horizontal Reservation: Applicable for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) as per extant rules. ESM horizontal reservation applies to posts carrying pay up to Level-6E (35900-113500).
  • Application Fee: Fee is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other examination. Applications without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected.
  • Single Application: Only one application is allowed per item number. Multiple applications for the same item will lead to cancellation of candidature and debarment.
  • Document Verification: Candidates must appear with original documents and self-attested photocopies. No TA/DA is paid for participation in the written test or document verification.
  • Vacancy Variation: The actual number of posts may increase or decrease before completion of the selection process; JKSSB is not legally liable for such variation.
  • Prohibited Items in Exam Hall: Mobile phones, smartwatches, smart glasses, AI-enabled devices, or any communication-capable device are strictly prohibited.
  • In-service Candidates: Must forward a signed and stamped printout of the application through their Head of Department to the Secretary, JKSSB, by the last date of Document Verification.
