Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Written Test: Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) in English language only. Negative marking of 1/4th marks for each wrong answer. Candidates shall be shortlisted for PST on the basis of written test (six times the total vacancies in each category).
- Physical Standard Test (PST) [Qualifying]:
For Males: Minimum Height: 5′-6″, Minimum Chest: 32-33.5″
For Females: Minimum Height: 5′-2″, Physically fit.
PST is of qualifying nature only. - Physical Endurance Test (PET) [Qualifying]:
Long Race for Males: 1600 meters in 6½ minutes
Long Race for Females: 1000 meters in 6½ minutes
Push-ups (Male only): 20
Shot put (Female only): 04 Kgs, 14½ feet in three attempts
PET is of qualifying nature only; no marks allotted.
Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen: Age up to 30 yrs: same as above; Age 30-40 yrs: 7½ min race, 16 push-ups, 12½ feet shot put; Age above 40 yrs: 8½ min race, 12 push-ups, 10½ feet shot put. - Medical Examination: Selected candidates will be medically examined to assess physical and medical fitness.
- Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for Document Verification with original documents and self-attested photocopies.

- Domicile Requirement: Candidates must be Domicile(s) of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and must possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the Competent Authority on or before the cut-off date (25.08.2026).
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): PwBD candidates are NOT eligible for these posts.
- Horizontal Reservation for Ex-Servicemen (ESM): Applicable as per extant rules for posts carrying pay up to Level-6E (35900-113500). ESM must submit an affidavit before 1st Class Judicial Magistrate and Certificate in Form-XIV at the time of document scrutiny.
- Vacancy Variation: The actual number of posts may increase or decrease during or before completion of the selection process. JKSSB is not legally liable for any such variation.
- Negative Marking: One-fourth (1/4th) of marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer.
