Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:

  • Written Competitive Examination (Combined Technical Services Examination 2026)
  • Interview by the Commission
  • For Item No. 2 (Assistant Conservator of Forests): Candidates successful in competitive examination and interview must pass a Physical Test – Male candidates: walking 25 km within 4 hours; Female candidates: walking 16 km within 4 hours. Minimum physical standards (height, chest measurements) must also be met.
  • The decision of the Commission in all matters regarding eligibility, conduct of examination, other tests and selection would be final and binding on all candidates.

The application procedure for is not fully online. Candidates are advised to follow the detailed instructions given below.

  1. Candidates must complete OTR (One Time Registration) which is mandatory for filling up the online application for Combined Technical Services Examination-2026.
  2. OTR will be active from 12:00 noon of 27th June, 2026 till 12:00 noon of 15th July, 2026.
  3. Only eligible candidates for CTSE-2026 may register for OTR. OTR is free of cost.
  4. Submit the Online Exam Application Form at the NPSC portal: https://npsc.nagaland.gov.in, available from 27th June, 2026 12:00 noon till 12:00 Noon of 17th July, 2026.
  5. No offline Exam Application Form will be issued from the Commission’s Office.
  6. Pay examination fee of Rs. 300, convenience fee of Rs. 25 and payment gateway charges as applicable.
  7. Government employees must upload a ‘No Objection Certificate’ signed by the Head of Department while submitting the online application.
  8. Candidates are advised to download Pattern of Examination and Syllabus from the Commission’s website.

  • Age Limit: Minimum 21 years, Maximum 32 years as on 01.01.2026. Upper age limit relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates. Age concession for serving Government employees equal to years in service, subject to maximum of 5 years.
  • Reservation: 80% of vacancies are reserved for candidates belonging to (a) Any Naga Tribe (b) Kuki (c) Kachari (d) Garo and (e) Mikir, provided such persons are Indigenous Inhabitants of the State of Nagaland.
  • Backward Tribes Reservation: Implementation of reservation for backward tribes shall be in accordance with notifications vide NO.RCBT 5/87(pt-II) dated 14-04-2011, 15-06-2012 & 04.09.2015 & No.RCBT 5/87(pt-III) dated 23.03.2022.
  • PwBD Reservation: Reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disability wherever applicable as sanctioned by the user department in accordance with Government Notification NO.AR-3/Gen-9/97 dated 13th August 2020 & No.AR-8/NSSB-9/2022/57 dated 5th April, 2022.

  • Documents Required: HSLC/Matriculation Admit Card for Date of Birth proof; Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate; ST/BT Certificates; Educational Qualification documents; Medical certificate for PwBD candidates; NOC from Head of Department for Government employees.
  • Indigenous Inhabitant/SC/ST/BT Certificates should be signed by competent authority not below the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner.
