Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Paper-I (Computer Based Examination – Objective Type): Consists of two parts: Part-I: General Hindi (100 questions/100 marks) and Part-II: General English (100 questions/100 marks). Duration: 2 hours with sectional timer of 1 hour for each part (2 hours 40 minutes for eligible scribe candidates). Negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer applies.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks in Paper-I: UR: 30%, OBC/EWS: 25%, All Other Categories: 20%.
- Paper-II (Descriptive – Translation & Essay): 200 marks. Duration: 2 hours (2 hours 40 minutes for eligible scribe candidates). Contains passages for translation (Hindi to English and English to Hindi) and essays in both languages.
- Final Merit: Weightage of 50% of scores in Paper-I and 100% of marks in Paper-II. There may be separate category-wise cut-offs in Paper-I and Paper-II.
- Post Preference: Candidates must submit post preferences online before declaration of First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA). Allocation is based on merit-cum-preference.
- Document Verification (DV): Conducted by User Departments/Organizations after declaration of final result.
- Tie Resolution: (i) Total marks in Paper-II; (ii) Date of birth (older candidate ranked higher); (iii) Alphabetical order of names.

- Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens or subjects of Nepal/Bhutan or persons of Indian origin who have migrated from specified countries with intention to permanently settle in India.
- Age Limit: 18 to 30 years as on 01-08-2026 (born not before 02-08-1996 and not later than 01-08-2008). Age relaxation: SC/ST – 5 years; OBC – 3 years; PwBD – 10 years; PwBD (OBC) – 13 years; PwBD (SC/ST) – 15 years; ESM – 3 years after deduction of military service.
- Reservation: Available for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwBD candidates. No ESM reservation for Group ‘B’ posts unless otherwise stated.
- Scribe/Assistive Technology: Available for eligible PwBD/PwD candidates. Compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of examination provided to eligible candidates using scribe.
