- Final Merit: Based on marks in Computer Based Examination (Skill Test is qualifying only). Post allocation via First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA) under sliding mechanism based on merit-cum-preference.

- Vacancies: Approximately 731 tentative vacancies for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’. Updated post-wise and category-wise vacancies will be available on the SSC website. State/Zone-wise vacancies are not collected by the Commission.
- Reservation: Available for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, Ex-Servicemen (ESM), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) as per Government orders. ESM vacancies are reserved only for Group ‘C’ post (Stenographer Grade ‘D’).
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST – 5 years; OBC – 3 years; PwBD (UR/EWS) – 10 years; PwBD (OBC) – 13 years; PwBD (SC/ST) – 15 years; Ex-Servicemen – 3 years after deduction of military service; Central Govt. Civilian Employees (3+ years service) – up to 40 years (Group C); Widows/Divorced Women – up to 35 years.
- Scribe/Compensatory Time: Eligible PwBD/PwD candidates may avail scribe or assistive technology. Compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour is provided to eligible candidates. Own scribe must complete OTR and Aadhaar authentication on SSC website.
- Application Form Correction: Window available from 20-05-2026 to 21-05-2026. Correction charges: ₹200/- for first correction, ₹500/- for second correction (applicable to all candidates irrespective of gender/category).
- Examination Centres: Candidates must choose 3 centres in order of preference from across India. No change of centre will be allowed after submission.
- Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India or subjects of Nepal/Bhutan or persons of Indian origin who have migrated from specified countries with intention to permanently settle in India (with eligibility certificate from Government of India).
- BRO Posts: Only male candidates are eligible for Stenographer Grade ‘D’ vacancies in Border Roads Organization (BRO). Stringent physical and medical standards including Physical Efficiency Test (1 mile run in 10 minutes) apply. Candidates failing BRO standards will not be reconsidered for other posts.
- Probation: Selected candidates will be on probation for 2 years and must undergo prescribed training/examinations.
- All India Service Liability (AISL): Selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India.
