Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:

  1. Written Examination (Single Stage): The examination consists of two papers:
    • Paper I: Part A – Tamil Eligibility Test (100 Questions, 150 Marks, SSLC Standard, OMR-based); Part B – General Studies (75 Questions, 150 Marks); Part C – Aptitude and Mental Ability (25 Questions). Duration: 3 hours. Minimum qualifying marks: 60 marks (40%) in Part A for Paper II and Parts B & C to be evaluated.
    • Paper II: Subject Paper (200 Questions, 300 Marks, Diploma/ITI Standard, Computer Based Test). Duration: 3 hours.
    • Total marks for ranking: 450 (Part B + Part C of Paper I + Paper II).
  2. Onscreen Certificate Verification: Candidates shortlisted based on minimum qualifying marks and rule of reservation. Ratio: 1:3 (General) / 1:2 (Reserved) for posts without experience; 1:5 (all categories) for posts requiring experience.
  3. Physical Certificate Verification and Counselling (where applicable): Based on written examination marks and reservation rules. Ratio: 1:3 (General) / 1:1.5 (Reserved) for posts with counselling; 1:1.2 (all categories) for posts without counselling.
  4. Final Selection: Based on total marks in Paper I (Parts B & C) and Paper II, subject to rule of reservation of appointments.
  5. Tie-breaking: Higher qualification → Senior in age → Earlier application number.

  2. Complete One Time Registration (OTR) by paying Rs.150/- registration fee (valid for 5 years). Link Aadhaar number with OTR (mandatory).
  3. Upload scanned photograph (20KB–50KB, taken on or after date of notification) and signature (10KB–20KB).
  4. Log in using your User ID and Password and click ‘APPLY’ against the notified post.
  5. Fill in the online application with all required details including subject paper choice, community, disability, employment status, etc.
  6. Upload all required supporting documents (educational qualifications, community certificate, age proof, eye fitness certificate where applicable, etc.).
  7. Pay the examination fee of Rs.100/- per subject paper opted via Net Banking / Credit Card / Debit Card / UPI.
  8. Preview the application and make corrections if needed before final submission.
  9. Click ‘SUBMIT’ to finally submit the application. Note the Application Number for future reference.
  10. Application Correction Window is available from 19.08.2026 (12:01 AM) to 21.08.2026 (11:59 PM) for editing submitted applications.

  • Total Vacancies: 839 (tentative, subject to modification before Physical Certificate Verification/Counselling).
  • Examination Mode: Paper I – OMR (Optical Mark Recognition); Paper II – CBT (Computer Based Test).
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: Paper I Part A – 60 marks (40%) for all categories. Paper I (Parts B+C) + Paper II combined minimum: 135 marks (SC/ST/BC/MBC/OBC); 180 marks (Others).
  • Appearance in both Paper I and Paper II is compulsory. Candidates absent from either paper will not be considered for selection.
  • Tamil Language Knowledge: Candidates must possess adequate knowledge of Tamil. Proof must be uploaded at the time of application.
  • Banned Items in Examination Hall: Mobile phones, pagers, electronic devices, smart watches, pen drives, cameras, Bluetooth devices, books, notes, log tables, drawing instruments, etc. are strictly prohibited.
  • Examination Centres: 38 district centres across Tamil Nadu. Candidates may choose two preferred centres (PwBD candidates: one centre only).
  • One Time Registration (OTR): Mandatory. Registration fee Rs.150/- (valid 5 years). Aadhaar linking is mandatory.
  • Examination Fee: Rs.100/- per subject paper opted. Additional Rs.100/- for each additional subject paper. Fee once paid is non-refundable.
  • Age Limit Reference Date: 01.07.2026 for most posts; 01.08.2026 for Junior Training Officer posts (Post Codes 3617–3648 and 3773–3783).
  • Minimum Age: 18 years for most posts; 21 years for Motor Vehicle Inspector Grade-II and Junior Training Officer posts.
  • No Maximum Age Limit means candidates should not have completed 60 years as on 01.07.2026 or at the time of selection/appointment.
  • Reservation: SC – 15%, SC(A) – 3%, ST – 1%, BC – 26.5%, BC(M) – 3.5%, MBC/DC – 20%. Minimum 30% vacancies reserved for women candidates.
  • Persons with Benchmark Disability: Not eligible for Motor Vehicle Inspector Grade-II (Post Code 2119) and Assistant Manager (Post Code 3789). Eligible for all other identified posts as per specified disability categories.
  • Destitute Widow Reservation: 10% of 30% women vacancies reserved for Destitute Widows (applicable for posts up to Level 10 in pay matrix).
