Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Preliminary Examination (Screening Test): Objective type OMR-based exam. Total 200 questions (175 General Studies – Degree Standard + 25 Aptitude & Mental Ability – SSLC Standard). Maximum Marks: 300. Duration: 3 hours. Minimum qualifying marks: 90 (SC/ST/BC/MBC) and 120 (Others). Marks in Preliminary Examination will NOT be counted for final merit.
- Onscreen Certificate Verification: Conducted before admission to Main Examination. No supplemental list will be published for rejected candidates.
- Main Examination: Descriptive type consisting of 4 papers:
- Paper I – Tamil Eligibility Test (SSLC Standard, 100 marks, qualifying in nature; minimum 40 marks for all categories)
- Paper II – General Studies I (Degree Standard, 250 marks)
- Paper III – General Studies II (Degree Standard, 250 marks)
- Paper IV – General Studies III (Degree Standard, 250 marks)
Minimum qualifying marks for Paper II, III, IV: 225 (SC/ST/BC/MBC) and 300 (Others) combined.
- Medical Examination: Conducted by Medical Board for all candidates provisionally admitted for Interview.
- Physical Certificate Verification: Original certificates to be produced.
- Interview: 100 marks (no minimum qualifying marks). Number of candidates called: 2x vacancies (if vacancies ≥ 5 in a group) or 3x vacancies (if vacancies ≤ 4 in a group).
- Final Merit List: Based on total marks in Main Examination (Paper II + Paper III + Paper IV) + Interview = 850 marks. In case of tie: senior in age ranks higher; if age also equal, higher marks in main exam ranks higher; if still equal, earlier application number ranks higher.
- Counselling: Based on rank in merit list.
