  1. Common Preliminary Examination (Screening Test): Single paper (OMR/Objective type) consisting of General Studies (75 questions), Aptitude and Mental Ability (25 questions), and General Tamil or General English (100 questions). Total: 300 marks, Duration: 3 hours. Minimum qualifying marks: 90 (for all communities). Marks in Preliminary Examination are NOT counted for final merit.
  2. Main Examination for Group II Services:
    • Paper I – Tamil Eligibility Test (SSLC Standard): 100 marks, 3 hours, Descriptive. Minimum qualifying marks: 40. (Qualifying in nature only)
    • Paper II – General Studies (Degree Standard): 300 marks, 3 hours, Descriptive. Minimum qualifying marks: 90. Marks in Paper II determine final ranking.
  3. Main Examination for Group IIA Services:
    • Paper I – Tamil Eligibility Test (SSLC Standard): 100 marks, 3 hours, Descriptive. Minimum qualifying marks: 40. (Qualifying in nature only)
    • Paper II – General Studies (150 questions, Degree Standard) + General Intelligence and Reasoning (50 questions, SSLC Standard): 300 marks, 3 hours, CBT (Computer Based Test). Minimum qualifying marks: 90. Marks in Paper II determine final ranking.
  4. Onscreen Certificate Verification: Candidates admitted in ratio 1:3 (General) and 1:2 (Reserved categories) based on Main Exam Paper II marks.

  3. If already registered, log in using existing User ID and Password.
  4. Click ‘APPLY’ against the notified examination and fill in the online application form.
  5. Upload a recent passport-size photograph (taken on or after date of notification) and signature as per specified dimensions and format.
  6. Select preferred examination centres (two choices for Preliminary Examination).
  7. Pay the preliminary examination fee of Rs.100/- online (Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card/UPI), unless exempted.
