- Shortlisting for Main Exam: Candidates will be shortlisted for the written (main) examination based on their normalized scores in the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET-2025). Up to 15 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) will be shortlisted, including all candidates up to the last cut-off normalized score (up to 2 decimal places). Candidates with zero or negative scores in PET-2025 will not be shortlisted.
- Written (Main) Examination: One question paper consisting of 100 objective/multiple-choice questions, to be completed in 2 hours (120 minutes). Each question carries 1 mark. Negative marking of 25% (i.e., 0.25 marks) per wrong answer applies.
- Exam Pattern:
Part-1 (Subject Knowledge): 65 marks – Theory of Machines & Machine Design (15), Engineering Mechanics (10), Strength of Materials (10), Thermodynamics (05), IC Engine (05), Steam Engineering & Power Plant (05), Refrigeration & Air Compression (05), Fluid Mechanics & Hydraulic Machines (10).

- Candidates marked as ‘Under Investigation (UI)’ or ‘Provisional’ in PET-2025 results may apply provisionally; their shortlisting and selection will be subject to the outcome of the Commission’s investigation.
- Reservation benefits are available only to domiciles of Uttar Pradesh. Non-UP residents will be treated as unreserved/general candidates.
- EWS candidates must possess an EWS certificate issued between 01-04-2026 and 25-11-2026, based on income of FY 2025-26 and valid for FY 2026-27.
- Horizontal reservation (4%) is provided for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) in Group A, B, C, and D posts as per UP Government orders.
- Reservation for Ex-Servicemen, Freedom Fighters’ Dependents, Women, and Outstanding Sportspersons is as per applicable UP Government rules.
