- Preliminary Examination (Objective Type / MCQ): Screening test held at various centres in Kolkata and other districts of West Bengal. Marks obtained will NOT be counted for final selection. Negative marking applicable for wrong answers.
- Final Examination (Conventional Type – Written): Held in Kolkata. Only candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination are eligible. Answers may be written in English or Bengali.
- Personality Test: Held at the office of the Public Service Commission, West Bengal, Kolkata. Knowledge of Bengali will be tested for candidates whose mother tongue is other than Bengali/Nepali.
- Final Merit List: Prepared on the basis of marks obtained in Final Examination and Personality Test taken together.
- Tie-Breaking: (i) Higher marks in Personality Test; (ii) Higher aggregate of two highest-scoring papers; (iii) Higher age.
- Medical Examination: Selected candidates will appear before a Medical Board for fitness certification.

- Age Limit: Not below 20 years and not more than 39 years as on 01.01.2024 (born not earlier than 02.01.1985 and not later than 01.01.2004). Age as recorded in Madhyamik or equivalent certificate only will be accepted.

- Reservation: Vacancies reserved for EWS, SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) of West Bengal, PwBD (40% and above), and Meritorious Sportspersons. SC/ST/OBC candidates of other states considered for Unreserved posts only.
