Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Group A Posts: The University may at its discretion adopt appropriate procedures for recruitment. Personal Interview may be conducted for Group A posts as per University policy.
- Group B & C Posts: Written Test and/or Skill Test may be conducted comprising Reasoning Ability, Simple Arithmetic, General Knowledge, Domain Knowledge of Establishment, Finance & Accounts, Examinations, Language Proficiency in English and Hindi, Noting/Drafting/Skill Test, or any other type of test depending upon job requirements. As per Government of India orders and UGC letter, Personal Interview for all positions except Group-A has been discontinued at Assam University.
- The University will adopt its own procedure of screening and scrutinize applications through Screening Committees and based on recommendations, shortlisting of candidates will be made.
- No correspondence will be made with applicants who are not shortlisted.
- The merit of candidates will be determined according to qualifications prescribed in the advertisement and written test/skill test (where required)/overall evaluation.

- Previous Applicants: Candidates who have already applied against Employment Notification No. 2/2025 for Executive Engineer (UR) and Section Officer (EWS); Employment Notification No. 2/2023, 2/2024 & 2/2025 for ASO (EWS) and UDC (EWS); and Employment Notification No. 2/2023, 1/2024 & 2/2025 for Laboratory Attendant (PwBD) need not apply again. However, they may submit their updated biodata via email to recruitment@aus.ac.in by 16th August, 2026.
- EWS Vacancies: If suitable EWS candidates are not found, such vacancies will be kept open for UR category. UR candidates may apply for posts reserved for EWS.
- Hard Copy Mandatory: Submission of hard copy of application is mandatory along with self-attested copies of all relevant documents within 15 days of the last date of online submission.
- New Pension Scheme: Applicable to candidates upon appointment at the University as per Government of India O.M. No. 1(13) EV/2001 dated 15.03.2004.
- Age Relaxation: As per Government of India guidelines for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen and regular employees of Central/State Govt./Central Universities/UGC maintained institutions.

- Disqualification: Persons convicted by any Court of Law, persons of unsound mind, persons who have entered into marriage with a person having a living spouse (unless exempted), non-citizens of India, and persons dismissed from service are not eligible.
- Crucial Date: 16th August, 2026 for determining SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen status and other benefits.
- Jurisdiction: In case of any disputes, the territorial jurisdiction for adjudication shall be the Gauhati High Court.
- Corrigendum/Amendment: Any corrigendum, cancellation, or addendum will be notified only on the University website www.aus.ac.in and will not be published in any newspaper.
