Selection Procedure

- Preliminary Written Examination (Stage 1): 100 marks, 100 objective MCQ questions, 2 hours duration. Contains 40 questions on General Knowledge & Current Affairs and 60 questions from one chosen technical group (Electronics & Communication / Electronics & Tele Communication / Information Technology / Electrical & Electronics). Minimum 30% marks required to qualify. Top 20 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) will be shortlisted for Main Exam. Negative marking: 0.2 marks per wrong answer.
- Main Written Examination (Stage 2):
– Paper 1: General Language Knowledge (50 marks Hindi + 50 marks English), Intermediate level, MCQ type, 1.5 hours. Minimum 30 marks required; marks not counted in merit.
– Paper 2: Technical subject (one chosen group), 100 marks, 100 MCQ questions, 3 hours, Polytechnic level. Minimum 33% marks required. Top 5 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) shortlisted for Physical Test. Negative marking: 0.2 marks per wrong answer. - Physical Efficiency/Fitness Test (Stage 3 – Qualifying):
– Running: Men – 1 mile (1.6 km) in max 7 minutes; Women – 1 km in max 7 minutes.
– High Jump: Men – min 3 ft 6 in; Women – min 2 ft 6 in.
– Long Jump: Men – min 10 ft; Women – min 7 ft.
– Shot Put: Men – 16 lb, min 14 ft; Women – 12 lb, min 8 ft.
(3 attempts for High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put each. Physical test is qualifying in nature; no marks awarded.) - Merit List: Prepared based on marks in Main Exam Paper 2 (Technical), category-wise. Tie-breaking by date of birth (older preferred), then educational qualification, then qualifying exam marks, then alphabetical order of name.
- Medical Examination & Character/Antecedent Verification: Conducted by the appointing authority before final appointment.
