Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:

Computer Based Online Test (CBT): Selection will be based solely on marks obtained in the CBT. No interview will be held.
Test Duration: 3 hours (in one sitting) consisting of two papers of 100 marks each.
Paper-I: General Knowledge/Awareness, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, and General English – 100 MCQs.
Paper-II: Professional Knowledge (Discipline related) – 100 MCQs.
Marking: Each question carries 1 mark. No negative marking for wrong answers. No marks for unattempted questions.
Question Paper Language: Bilingual (English and Hindi). In case of discrepancy, English version shall prevail.
Qualifying Marks:
- General (UR) / EWS: Minimum 40 marks in each paper
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Minimum 35 marks in each paper
- SC / ST / PwD: Minimum 30 marks in each paper
Merit List: Final merit panel will be prepared based on marks obtained in CBT only.
Tie-breaking (CS Discipline): Preference given to candidates who have worked in a Listed Company.
Document Verification (DV) & Initial Medical Examination (IME): Shortlisted candidates will be called for DV and IME. Offer of Appointment will be issued only after successful completion of DV & IME.

Other Important Information

Service Agreement Bond: Selected candidates must serve the company for a minimum of 60 months from the date of joining. A bond of ₹3 Lakhs is required at the time of joining. ₹5,000/- per month will be deducted from salary towards bond money, refunded without interest after 60 months of service.
Training Period: 1-year training cum probation. On successful completion, service will be confirmed in E-1 Grade as Officer (Discipline).
Posting: Candidates may be posted anywhere in India including Subsidiary companies and Coalfield areas. Three choices of subsidiary in order of preference to be submitted, but final posting is at CIL’s discretion.
Medical Examination: Selected candidates must undergo Initial Medical Examination (IME) by the company’s Medical Committee. Decision of Medical Committee is final.
Nationality: Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.
No TA/DA: No travel allowance/daily allowance will be paid for appearing in CBT.
One Application Only: Candidates can submit online application for one discipline (post) only.
NOC Required: Candidates working in Government/PSUs/Autonomous bodies must submit NOC.
Benefits: DA, HRA, perquisites under cafeteria approach, Performance Related Pay (PRP), Leave, Medical facilities, CMPF, CMPS, Gratuity, CIL Executive Defined Contribution Pension Scheme as per company rules.
Appearing Candidates: Final year/semester students of academic year 2025-26 are eligible if they expect results by 31-08-2026.
Jurisdiction: Any dispute will be settled within the jurisdiction of Kolkata only.
