Selection Procedure

Phase-I: Online Test (22-23 September 2026)
- Science Subjects: 60 minutes – Physics, Mathematics, English (10+2 CBSE syllabus)
- Other than Science Subjects: 45 minutes – English and Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA)
- Science + Other than Science Subjects: 85 minutes – Physics, Mathematics, English, and RAGA
- Marking: +1 for correct answer, 0 for unattempted, -0.25 for wrong answer
- Marks will be Normalised across sessions; shortlisting for Phase-II is state-wise based on normalised marks
Phase-II (at designated Air Force Selection Centres – ASC)
- Document Verification: Original certificates and marksheets verified prior to commencement of Phase-II
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT-I): 1.6 Km run – Male: within 7 minutes; Female: within 8 minutes
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT-II):
- Male: 10 Push-ups (1 min), 10 Sit-ups (1 min), 20 Squats (1 min)
- Female: 10 Sit-ups (1 min 30 sec), 15 Squats (1 min)
- Adaptability Test-I: Objective type written test to assess suitability for IAF deployment
- Adaptability Test-II: Assessment of ability to adapt to IAF environment and military way of life
Phase-III: Medical Examination
- Conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per IAF medical standards
- Includes Blood Haemogram, Urine RE/ME, Biochemistry (Blood Sugar, Cholesterol, RFT, LFT), Chest X-Ray, ECG, Ultrasonography (female candidates), and other investigations as required
- Candidates declared unfit may apply for Appeal Medical Board (AMB) by depositing ₹40/- within three working days
Final Selection:
- State-wise Provisional Select List (PSL) prepared based on performance in selection test and state-wise vacancies
- Up to 25% of each batch of Agniveervayu may be enrolled in regular cadre of IAF after 4 years based on organisational requirements

- Engagement period: 4 years under Air Force Act 1950
- Only unmarried Indian male and female candidates are eligible
- Candidates must not marry during the 4-year engagement period; violation leads to dismissal

Medical Standards (Key Points):

- Chest: Male – minimum 77 cm circumference, 5 cm expansion; Female – minimum 5 cm expansion
- Vision: 6/12 each eye correctable to 6/6; Hypermetropia +2.0D, Myopia -1D, ±0.50D Astigmatism; Colour Vision CP-II
- Candidates with history of LASIK/PRK will NOT be accepted
- Minimum 14 dental points required; dental implants not awarded points; orthodontic appliances = unfit
