Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
Phase-I: Online Test
- Objective type online test (bilingual – English & Hindi, except English paper)
- Duration: 45 minutes
- Subjects: English (as per 10+2 CBSE syllabus) and Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA)
- Marking: +1 for correct answer, 0 for unattempted, -0.25 for wrong answer
- Candidates must qualify in each paper separately
- Normalisation of marks may be applied across sessions
Phase-II (at designated Airmen Selection Centre – ASC):
- Document Verification: Verification of eligibility documents prior to commencement of Phase-II
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT-I): 1.6 Km run – within 7 minutes (up to 21 years) / within 7 minutes 30 seconds (above 21 years with Diploma/B.Pharma/B.Sc in Pharmacy)
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT-II): 10 Push-ups (1 min), 10 Sit-ups (1 min), 20 Squats (1 min)
- Adaptability Test-I: Objective type written test to assess suitability for IAF deployment in varied geographic terrain, weather and operational conditions
- Adaptability Test-II: To select candidates who can adapt to the IAF environment and military way of life
Phase-III: Medical Examination
- Conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per IAF medical standards
- Includes baseline investigations: Blood Haemogram, Urine RE/ME, Biochemistry (Blood Sugar, Cholesterol, RFT, LFT), Chest X-ray (PA view), ECG, and any other investigation deemed necessary
- Candidates declared unfit may appeal via Appeal Medical Board (AMB) within 3 working days by depositing ₹40/- via e-MRO/MRO
Provisional Select List (PSL): Merit-wise PSL to be displayed at all ASCs and on the web portal in the last week of May 2027.

- Eligibility: Only Indian/Gorkha (subject of Nepal) MALE candidates are eligible.
- Marital Status: Unmarried candidates required for 10+2 entry; both married and unmarried eligible for Diploma/B.Pharma/B.Sc in Pharmacy entry (with different age bands).
- Tenure: Initial enrolment for 20 years (extendable up to age 57 years), subject to service conditions.
- Training: Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) at designated Basic Training Institute followed by trade-specific training. Candidates cannot stay with family during training. Unmarried candidates cannot marry until completion of ab-initio training.
- Pay & Allowances: Stipend of ₹14,600/- per month during training; Starting gross emoluments ₹26,900/- per month after training (including MSP) + DA, Transport Allowance, CPMA, LRA, Children Education Allowance, HRA etc.
- Perks: Ration, clothing, medical facilities, accommodation, CSD facilities, 60 days annual leave + 30 days casual leave, LTC, Group Insurance Cover of ₹62.5 Lakhs at ₹3200/- per month premium, Group Housing Scheme.
- Medical Standards: Minimum height 152 cm; Refractive error not exceeding +3.50D including Astigmatism; Visual acuity 6/36 each eye correctable to 6/6; Colour Vision CP-II; Minimum chest 77 cm with 5 cm expansion; Normal hearing (forced whisper at 6 meters); Minimum 14 dental points; No LASIK/PRK history accepted.
- Body Tattoo Policy: Permanent tattoos not permitted except on inner forearm, back of hand/palm, or tribal tattoos as per custom. Offensive/obscene tattoos prohibited regardless of location.
- NDPS Policy: Zero tolerance for narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. Consumption is a reject criterion.
- Prohibited Items: Mobile phones, smart watches, and electronic devices are prohibited in testing areas during Phase-I and Phase-II. Permanent debarment for possession.
- Sikh Candidates: Permitted to retain beard and moustache as per religious custom.
- Ex-servicemen: Candidates discharged from Indian Army/Navy/Government organisations eligible if discharged with no adverse entries. Must declare and produce Discharge Certificate. Candidates discharged from IAF are NOT eligible.
