Selection Procedure

- Application Shortlisting: Applications received through Registered Post will be shortlisted based on higher sports achievements.
- Call Up Letter: Eligible shortlisted candidates will be sent call-up letters through email indicating date, time, and place for selection trials.
- Physical Standards Test: Candidates will be tested for height, weight, and chest expansion as per prescribed norms (region-wise for males; 162 cm for females).
- Physical Fitness Test (Male): 1.6 Km Run (qualify in 5 Min 45 Sec), 9 Feet Ditch, and Zig-Zag Balance.
- Physical Fitness Test (Female): 1.6 Km Run (qualify in 8 Min), 10 Feet Long Jump, and 3 Feet High Jump.
- Skill Test: Sport-specific skill assessment. Candidates to bring their own sports gear and equipment.
- Medical Examination: Candidates qualifying Physical Fitness Test, Physical Standards Test, and Skill Test will undergo medical examination by Army Medical Team at the trials site. Medically Temporary Unfit candidates may seek specialist review from a designated Military Hospital within 21 days. Medically Permanent Unfit candidates may appeal for specialist opinion within 21 days on payment of Rs. 10/- by MRO.
- Selection List: Final selection list prepared from candidates who qualify in all respects, depending on available vacancies in particular sports disciplines.
- Police Verification: All selected candidates must submit Police Verification form along with the Offer of Enrolment. Candidates without police verification will not be eligible for enrolment.

- Sports Disciplines: Athletics, Archery, Basketball, Boxing, Diving, Equestrian, Football, Fencing, Gymnastics (Artistic), Hockey, Handball, Judo, Kayaking & Canoeing, Kabaddi, Karate (Kumite), Rowing, Swimming, Sailing, Shooting, Taekwondo (Kyourgi), Volleyball, Wushu (Sanshou only), Weight Lifting, Wrestling.
- Sports Achievement Eligibility Period: Sports achievements from 01 Apr 2024 or after at International/Junior or Senior National Championship/Khelo India Games/Youth Games/Khelo India University Games will be considered.
- Marital Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible.
- Probationary Period: 3 years. Havildar & Naib Subedar entries are liable to be discharged if sports performance does not improve to expected levels during this period.
- Promotion: Promotion prospects exist based on merit up to the rank of Sub Maj. Opportunities for promotion to commissioned officer also exist.
- Body Tattoos: Permitted only on inner face of forearms, back of hand/reverse side of palm, and tribal tattoos as per custom. Offensive/obscene tattoos are prohibited.
- NDPS Policy: Zero tolerance policy to alcoholism and substance abuse. Consumption of narcotic drugs/psychotropic substances is a rejection criterion.
- Dope Testing: Candidates found under influence of performance enhancing drugs during selection trials or before enrolment will be disqualified immediately.
