Selection Procedure

- There shall be No Written Test.
- Selection shall be on the basis of percentage of marks in descending order (aggregate of marks of all subjects of all years/semesters) obtained in the prescribed qualification applicable to the trade applied for.
- Preference shall be given to candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time.
- In case of tie in percentage of marks, the date of birth (senior by age) shall be the tiebreaker. In case of same date of birth, candidates having a higher percentage of marks in Matriculation shall be considered.
- Candidates belonging to PwBD categories who have availed relaxation in eligibility qualification marks will be considered against reserved seats, irrespective of their position in the select list (in order of merit within the category).

- Candidates must pass a Pre-Engagement Medical Fitness examination to be considered for engagement.
- Filling up of seats is solely at the discretion of the management based on suitability of candidates.

- Training Period: Ranges from 12 to 24 months depending on the trade/discipline.
- No Employment Obligation: Upon completion of apprenticeship, IOCL has NO obligation to offer employment, nor can an apprentice claim right for employment.
- Stipend: As prescribed under Apprentices Act, 1961/1973/Apprentices Rules 1992 (as amended) and Corporation’s guidelines.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Apprentices selected against codes 101–107 shall be provided one pair of safety shoes and a Helmet (returnable upon completion of training), wherever applicable.
- Company Accommodation/HRA: No HRA or Company accommodation shall be provided.
- Leave: General Leave – 32 days @ 8 days per quarter; Casual Leave – 12 days per calendar year (pro-rata); Holidays as observed in the establishment.
- Insurance: Apprentices shall be covered under suitable Accident Insurance Coverage.
- PwBD Seats: PwBD candidates can apply only against identified seats under Codes 105, 106, 107, 108 & 110.
- Minimum Marks: 50% aggregate (45% for SC/ST and PwBD candidates for reserved seats) in prescribed qualification.
- Candidates with higher qualifications such as BE/B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA are NOT eligible.
